R23k.... maybe its a better quality carbon? and the Brain suspension I suppose..

I haven't seen any brain logos on the Spez RS1's. Do you think they've included the brain tech inside already?

I guess, cant really see them bringing out an sworks epic with no brain suspension.

You would think the forks design need to include a guard of sorts, like on the Lefty's... I cringe to think what a wrong line through a rock garden could potentially do to the "lowers"....

Agreed - potentially a disaster waiting to happen!

Keeps the fork lubricated at all times

looks like a k@k idea if I see what the lower part of my fork looks like. that thing is going to get dinged all the time - unless you are a dirt-roadie.

I know this is a bit controversial and I have been lambasted when I mentioned the manufacturer of the bike a race winner was on cause 'it's not about the bike' BUT what is the thinking about the 'premium' they could perhaps place on their top model if it is a bike which is seen to be winning races often?

Could very well place a premium on the top model when as you say it is seen as winning races that often. 4 out of the 6 podium places in the recent marathon championships at cascades were on them.... :whistling:

Firstly I am a Specialized Fan... Own one...

Have said this before, and I am sure will get tuned again like before.. but no amount of R&D can justify that kind of a price...

Even the top spec frames are all molded in the far east, and might be finished/assembled somewhere fancy...

But you take an entry level car, with more engineering, manufacturing, materials, labor, larger shipping distribution costs, etc than an Epic and comes in cheaper or the same price as an Epic.....

Something is not adding up...

Only reason I would go Epic Carbon Expert is for the Brain in both back and front, otherwise the Carbon Comp would be plenty fine..

Rest of the components you can change out to your preference and latest spec as desired..

As pointed out earlier by another poster, it works perfectly for motorbikes moto-x bikes... but these guys say it better: http://enduro-mtb.com/en/first-ride-rockshox-rs-1-inverted-suspension-fork-2015/ and http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/news/article/rockshox-rs-1-upside-down-fork-first-look-40667/

I think the sub-10kg all-in weight for a 29er full-sus has something to do with the ridiculous price...also bearing in mind that the front shock is ZAR20k/$1.9k on its own.

I mostly agree with you. Have a look at component prices, they are just as crazy when you want xtr or xo or xx. Done the maths every time I buy a bike. It always works out cheaper to buy a better specced bike, than to up spec a cheaper version.

Comes with a normal fork aswell. I will be the first to admit I love that pink.

If these are the 2015 Epic's are they any different to the 2014? Besides paint? 2014 upgrades and frame changes were instantly noticeable and vast improvements - what are they for 2015?

Def 2015 models. Mate of mine is at the launch in Austria. We will have to wait and see what the exact specs are. They made big changes to the Epic in 2014, 2015 wont see too many changes in the Epic range.
