What an absolute rip off Garden Shop in Bryanston is.

Needed to buy one of these "Gardena Twin Tap Connector"

Garden Shop price - R495

Local Harware - R264

Makro - R239

Needless to say, I will be on my way to Makro today.

I bought 5 adapters and connectors to go with one of these yesterday to get it to fit onto a different tap and connect to a washing machine on the outlet, cost me R180.

How far is Makro compared to your local HW shop? For most people, the fuel there & back would be far more expensive than the R25 saved. That, and the fact that I'd much rather support the local HW (mine is awesome!) than those useless @#$s at Makro. I can't stand Massmart's corporate culture.

The guy at my local Mica yesterday opened and tested 3 different connector packets for me which he then discarded, all just to get the correct combination for my setup. I'd like to see anyone at Makro try that...

Don't ever buy bearings at a cycle shop.

Go to your closest engineering shop or other bearing supplier and buy them there for way less than that and have your lbs fit them or fit them yourself.

Best investment I made, cycling wise, is to buy myself a proper toolkit and start servicing my bike myself.

You can get one with 4 outlets at Builders for R50. Different brand though - Gardenmaster - bought one last week and so far so good...
