I should have posted this much sooner but here goes.

HOUT BAY main road along graveyard.

Last Saturday and Sunday morning no specific time there were a number of attempts to attack single cyclists. Two to three guys would hide behind the gum trees and then surprise cyclists - try and knock them off. They were armed with knives.

With the aid of neighbourhood watch will see if we can do something about it.

Tempted to see if I can set a trap but need help of some local cyclists.

Well colour me surprised...

It's too easy to steal and sell the bikes on for them to resist. Instead of having to go through the whole rigmarole of actually breaking into a home (and carrying the tools you need for that) and nicking some electronic gizmos it is far easier to hover around near a popular cycling area and grab a bike. You get more money for a bike at Cash Crusaders than you would for a dvd player and its a lot harder to be arrested for standing next to a road than it is being found in a house that isn't yours.

Rather turn off at Disa Rd and go past World of Birds ,then Empire Rd down towards the beach. These back roads have less traffic as well.

Apparently, Valley Rd has has issues as well. It's quietness means less chance of passersby interrupting affairs.

Not great news. This sucks

There have also been two attacks on solo runners in the last week at the same spot. In the first instant the runner was attacked by 6 assailants at 15h30 in full view of road users. It appears that the purpose of the attack was assault, not theft. The idiots in blue could not give two flying f**ks. I am tempted to lay a criminal charge against the Hout Bay station commander for aiding and abetting criminal acts.

This is what happens when theres no police presence, this country is on autopilot

There is a very large police station not 1km from this spot manned by the worst kind of retards who spend their time in the shebeens across the road. People in IY township are being gunned down not 500 metres from the front door of this glorious institution while the idiots we arm wolf down KFC steetwise 25s.

If SA had no crime it would be paradise, esp Capetown. This constant vigilance when out and about sux, bleeds the good vibes, especially when riding on a good few R10ks of easily saleable rolling stock. fock

Here in the karoo we do not know of such things... problem is when they find out they might migrate here as this will be a very easy target. Lots of people ride alone here. Its sad that things are getting to a point where the people who are appointed to protect us are a bunch of incompetent salary thieving idiots

Hout bay, , plumstead, tokai, cape point, stelli and etc. There is no sfae place for us in cape town anymore.

Dont complain it on thehub.nothing chage.

Rather complain it to City of CT or a head of police department whatever. They must know how vulnerable cyclists are now. They might ignore just one complainingness.

but if they get lots of them, then they must do something.

Please call and leave a message whatever for urself ,ur friends and ur family..

The police station is a very short way down the road. The same police station where a few years ago a Cape Times reporter found dagga growing on the traffic circle right in front of. It made for a great front page picture!
