Just thought I'd let you guys know, my faith is somewhat restored.

I tried my luck ordering contact lenses from the UK, (much cheaper than anything here and been using them for 2 years now, no hassles) ordered on 19 April, came today.

I thought I'd wait months.

Sorry guys, I actually placed the order on the 31st of March.. so took 3 weeks longer than I thought, but not bad considering there're others waiting longer

I once ordered some components online and the site bragged about super fast delivery.  When I clicked "confirm payment" I heard the doorbell and I thought no freaking way, I was right, it was just my mate popping in for a cold one.

I have mixed feelings about my sympathies with the staff. On the one hand its a really terrible position to be in , not knowing if you are gonna get paid, with mouths to feed. On the other hand, the staff have irrevocably wrecked the post office with repeated ongoing strikes, which totally eroded all and any customer confidence in the p o .

Its no wonder they can't pay salaries - the staff are the authors of their own fate. If Unions act capriciously, abusing strike action, they ultimately do their own members a huge disservice. This is the lesson from the dysfunctional post office - but they will probably take quite a few more entities down before this home truth starts to sink in. If ever.

My wife went to hand in a speed service parcel today and she was warned that it would likely not be collected today as there was a fuel problem with the van that does the collections. So, off to the local pick n pay to use the drop box.

The time has come for people to realise that the unions are actually not going to do anything for them.  As you said, in trying to get a better wage deal, they bit the hand that fed them aka the customer and this is the fruits of their endeavour.  The SA labour market needs to realise that whatever lies ahead, people will have to pull their fingers and start working.  Complaining about the economy that is in its moer is what they should think of when they go and vote.
