My advice, built a ridiculous gap jump on the straight line.

Rider has two options:

1. Don't corner and have the ride of your life

2. Learn to corner on the spot

3.Newby breaks his collerbone

4.City parks closes emma for bicycle

5.Rats become sad pandas

And a plus to all of us is we all get a gap jump :) I think I may look into this

Great result

Nah, I got a 27.5 now - haven't you heard, everything else sucks compared to them.

I am still working on that skill set though. Corners are a big issue.

Sorry I have never ridden the Spruit but I heard it is perfect for 29ers?

And the odd drop can still be quite tricky ;)

Yeah its not so bad.

Seriously though, it takes a huge amount of work to try and make something interesting out of what the Spruit has, so I can understand the frustration of trail builders when these little lines (that take ages to build) get compromised

It has come to my attention that many people that ride the spruit do not know how to take corners.

Many of the corners in the windy tree sections and even out in the open have been ridden straight.

There could be a few reasons to this.

- You are going too fast and therefore can't make the corner, you are riding beyond your limit, practice taking corners because you cant cut them in races.

- you are going for the KOM, don't bother, they are too close to straight paths to pick up a diffrent trail.

- You simply dont know how to corner, I would suggest some skills clinics.

If you do prefer to ride in straight lines please keep to the open paths or roads and leave the trails to be fun and windy.

On this note I would advise you

A - Learn how to corner.

B - go slower.

C - learn how to bunny hop.

Some obstacles may appear in all of the straight lines in the not too distant future.

You can thank the Spruit fairies for improving your riding skills free of charge.

I worry that you - of all people - think that there are a) uphills, b) down hills c) corners and d) technical sections on the spruit - it is in reality, perfectly suited to riding on a road bike....   Now please go and delete all the bits that make it a road ride and not an mtb ride..... ESPECIALLY the filled in water drainage sloot at Fratelli's....
