I've recently (about a month ago) went tubeless for the first time, and so far I'm loving it. No big hickups or anything of that nature.

I gave my bike a wash with Prepsol and and quickly (with a paintbrush- only used for bike cleaning) brushed the rims/sidewalls with a diluted mixture of 1:1 of Presol:Water before rinsing them.

As I popped my bike on the bikestand, I saw that my tyres are blowing bubbles past the bead - and my tyres started losing air. Like the Prepsol is breaking down the seals between bead/rim.

No it seems the sealant is not working great anymore, and so I'm going to be taking my wheels off tonight, clean them and re-do the sealant and re-seat the tyres.

So - pretty much just a word of warning - apparently sealant and Prepsol does not like one another.

It should not be the sealant that does the work of sealing the bead.

With proper tubeless tires you should be able to put them on without any sealant........

No Way in hell, Prepsol is causing your problem.............Been using it for years and years, to clean anything from MX Bikes, to bicycles, to mag wheels, even dirty MX kit, and never ever had an issue.

The greenest area anywhere in my yard is the grass patch right where I wsh my MX bikes and bicycles etc, and thus see's a lot of Prepsol. If Prepsol is non caustic and non corrosive the Grass would die. And I wash and use probably a few litres of Prepsol a week.

Have even washed dishes with it many times when we been away camping at race tracks etc over the years.

I haven't encountered the same problem but usually only use prepsol on my drivetrain and my tires sealed pretty well even without sealant so my case might not be a very good comparison.

Highly doubt it's the Prepsol. I also use Prepsol to wash my bike and never had the problem you're describing.

Also can't see how the Prepsol can find its way between the rim and bead to disrupt the seal.

Prepsol can't cause the problem at all, so I think checking the tape and re-seating should do the trick. Only problem I've experienced with Prepsol is holding my Karcher too close and getting it into bearings...

Been using prepsol for ages. No issues what so ever. Could have been leaking prior to washing your bike. Even the service bikes are washed with it and no issues..

Had sort of the same situation

Found the rimtape came loose (Stans rimtape non the less)

Got some Rider tape and a two valves and problem was sorted.

Also used fresh Stans solution.

I agree with Joffter ,

No ways is it the Prepsol .

I have also used it for years on both bicycles and MX Bikes .

No problem on tubeless wheels .

Must agree...Prepsol is bio-degradable. Whereas CleanGreen for example is far more corrosive (much more ammonia in it)...just smell the two and you'll know what i'm referring to....

doubt it was the source of your leaking tyres...
