Super Sywurm Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Membership will be further discounted (probably start october) which may be worthwhile if you're wanting to ride frequently for the month. We are also looking into day permit setups before the silly season. Currently, R30 will get you access to Hooggekraal or Contermanskloof or Meerendal for a day But where do I pay the R30 and where do I get a proof that I payed. I'm only there for a week or so.
Super Sywurm Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 at bottelary hills the day-permits are temp bikeboards with today's date etc on.so its quite clear who is rogue riding the trails.i use to purchase them from the 24 engen garage at the bottom of bottelary road.now i dont need to anymore seeing that i purchased the yearly membership. I've paid the Meerendal honesty box every time i go there, and every time i wonder how i will prove that i have paid if i am asked if i have paid.If I put money in the box, I want proof that I paid. If I get stopped along the trail, I want to show my proof.
Hairy Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 If I put money in the box, I want proof that I paid. flymango Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Another way, make a short video clip where you put the money in the box!? Smart (phone) out of the (honesty) box thinking!!
DJR Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 t.......................The situation on Hillcrest, Bloemendal and green corridors is different and if you do not have a bike board and have chosen to ride past the "Members only" signs then we will give you a hard time. .................... Just to be clear, is Hillcrest now also out of bounds to day permit riders? Last time I went there, more than a year ago I think, I simply paid at the restaurant and had a great ride.

Last time I went there, more than a year ago I think, I simply paid at the restaurant and had a great ride.Yes DJR. It was closed to non-members in 2012 due to problems with people not using the honesty box as well as the honesty box being vandalised. The moment we have a day permit system up and running we will let everybody know.
Capricorn Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 pity honest boxes couldn't be turned into honesty snapscan_like spots.
Matchstix Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Did the incident of riding on kliprug happen on sunday?

SCD Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I quite like the honesty box system at Lebanon forest. You tear off a permit slip of a block. Each permit has a number. Put down your name and number in the book. You put your cash in a small plastic envelope and write on your permit number and drop it in the box.
marko35s Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 How did you get the peoples full names, have them arrested for trespassing?Strava maybe?
andydude Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Obviously in this day and age the honesty box thing won't work. Is there any other way? Perhaps card controlled access? And maybe you can also introduce weekly and monthly subscriptions. Otherwise it's like paying the full Argus entry, but only riding to St James. Just ideas to get more people riding. Especially the out of towners and the holiday makers.
tygerbergmtb Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 How did you get the peoples full names, have them arrested for trespassing? They are being pulled off strava but physical policing is being increased.Nope we cannot have them arrested for trespassing as this would have to be done by the landowners (who could rather just deny access to mountain bikers to reduce the hassles - then we all lose).Obviously in this day and age the honesty box thing won't work. Is there any other way? Perhaps card controlled access? And maybe you can also introduce weekly and monthly subscriptions. Otherwise it's like paying the full Argus entry, but only riding to St James. Just ideas to get more people riding. Especially the out of towners and the holiday makers.Card access was investigated but capital outlay and vandalism is a problem. The most feesible option at this stage will be a day permit system with temp bike board.
