Bestmed Jacaranda Satellite Classic (80km and 106km)

Is the 80km friendly enough for a noob training for the 94.7?

Good route, two small bumps as you go towards Pecanwood, from there its flat and fast till you get to Hekpoort.

Proper climb (probably the toughest climb in all the Gauteng Races)

Then another one or two bumps on the way to the finish.

Our only issue last year was the ridiculous price for beer etc at Saloon whatever it is

Looking forward to this one. Definitely the most scenic Gauteng race as well as one of the toughest climbs in the province.

IMO Hekpoort is harder than any climb in SBR, including northcliff

but then again all of them are cat 3 climbs

Vrekpoort is actually not that bad.  Rated 12th on the pain scale of SA climbs I have done

Interesting...

How do you guys rate Hekpoort against Suikerbossie in the Argus?

I would rate them as similar...

Shorter....gradient is less.  And it is at sea level.  Thus a bit easier. (In theory)

Hekpoort is always in the heat, at altitude, bunch still big, more twisty and early in the season. HARDER.

Yeah I guess this is all true... Damn, having not done this race since two years ago, I was trying to fool myself into thinking it would be a breeze ;)
