This only having two designated days and areas to collect numbers irritates me... I stay over 40 minutes away from Fourways and a good hour + from Pretoria so for me to go and collect my number today I put in half a days leave and left and lunch time to go through to cycle lab only to get my number within a minute, surely there is no logistical problem if they run the same process at the venue on race day... There is so many races I haven't entered simply because I have to take leave to go collect my number.

Anyway rant over... looking forward to Saturday and hoping the wind drops off nicely. Even bought a new jersey for the race

I have thought about that... have you never been stopped or anything like that?

I don't see why the organisers cant even send us a PDF version of the numbers they print with logos etc on and we can have the option to print it ourselves

Ride without a number - collection is an age old Issue

keep a scanned copy of this one for next year so you have the Font and size close enough to print yourself

This will be the first time in 5 years that I won't be riding this race. I am 100km away from the nearest number collection point, and numerous toll gates in between! I cannot justify driving to JHB and back one day, and again the next day. This trip alone will most probably be more than the entry fee for the race. I have also mailed the organisers to find out whether I can collect early on race morning, but they did not even bother to reply to my e-mails.  So, this race has been permanently scratched off my list, unless they come with an option of collecting on race day. Previous years we could organize the number to be collected with my cycling buddy, but that isn't an option anymore. He has changed jobs since then.

That is one of the reasons why I love to support the Carnival City Macsteel race in February. With them I can collect on race morning.

We arranged for a friend to pick up our numbers from Fourways but forgot to remind her yesterday. She may or may not have remembered and picked them up - if she didn't we'll be riding without numbers. We'll have our racetech chips on our bikes so maybe we'll still get our times. We'll also have our phones on us with our text messages and numbers on them.

To be honest its all stress we could do without really.

I am going to pick up my number this afternoon from Gift Acres. I can get some more numbers if you guys want. Just note that I am only starting in group D tomorrow for the 80 km (7:45) so I might not be on of the early ones at the venue. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Note: I am leaving at 14:00 this afternoon to get my number

I've only done it twice, no problems. Many people fold their numbers so that the logos are not visible, so I do the same.

I'm riding in open seeded, so their is probably less scrutiny than the licensed riders.

Agreed...this will be the first time in 4 years that I won't ride Satellite. But for me it's about safety - traffic along the route was an absolute nightmare the last 2 years, and after almost having been taken out by 2 trucks last year I decided that this one will get a skip in future.

My morning will be spent out on Lynnwood, a water stop in Cuillinan ending off with a few intervals on Klappies.
