Let's work with the facts:

It is incorrect to title a thread "Stolen.." If there is no evidence / data to support this.

That is prejudicial.

The same old nonsense of negatively biased view on anyone with lesser class.

Now "Possibly" or "Likely" is a more responsible statement and, above all else, correct.

Yes agreed, speculative until proven otherwise...

Oh no, now that the Oscar trial is over, we have a bunch of wannabe lawyers here.

Good on you OP, you had the initial good intentions, then the HUB took over, and converted it into a "Friday thread".

If this was my Pina (without the Jap components), i'd be thanking you.

You know I'm right, right?

It wasn't about race (i dont think the OP mentioned race at all...probably on purpose) but about the reference to a person wearing blue overalls riding a pino aka blue collar worker.

TBH being a former blue collar worker myself and taking part in sport more expensive than cycling at the time i also dont appreciate the ASSumption that a blue collar worker probably cannot afford it....its a stupid social stigma thing.

And yes i know the OP's intentions were good and meant to help someone who may have had pino stolen, so imo no harm done

Ja bru, but there's too much arguing and not enough really being said to validate the amount of arguing. It's a simple thing dude. In Utopia anyone should be able to own whatever they like and use it however they want. In the real world, when sh1te looks dodge, more than 90% of the time it is. Back in RSA it's even more regular to see this type of thing. If you know the Stellenbosch Arterial road, you would know why you would prefer not to ride your Pina there whether you're in overalls anyway!

Exactly, 90% of the discussion is devoid of facts and based on assumptions.

Unless you live in the immediate area.

The above refer to the highlighted parts

As I said in my first post, I don't have a problem with the OP's intentions.

The overall thing has been drawn out of proportion, lets leave it at that.

All that these overlly sensitive peeps are accomplishing is deterring people from reporting suspeicious activity in fear of being called insensitive.

So the next time I see a guy with a balaclava carrying a bike and a TV over a wall, I will not come post it here.

I mean maybe his front gate was broken, his ears were cold and all he wanted to do was go for an afternoon ride and drop a broken TV off at the repair shop on the way back.

Dude this post is ******* hilarious!!!

Hell change those clothes for cycling clothes soon hey.... then we got a real strong chinarello climber!!

Most importantly... did he wear a helmet ???

I think someone mentioned a hardhat.

Flip remind me never to report a crime of any sort on this hub as it will be dissected in so many forms.....because the perpetrator was of skin color driving a mecr, or bmw i could not draw a honest and non objective opinion....

yet out of 2 mall robberies in CPT where vehicle and perpetrators were linked, the above was confirmed. 90% of the time the crowbar gang description was Vehicles that blended in with the type in the area and the perpetrators were of skin color

I had this scenario coming from Constantia where i saw a gentleman on a 29er specialised MTB with cleats, normal shoes and no helmet.....it looked very suspicious....o yes he was also pedaling in a very heavy gear.....could clearly see he was not the owner of the bike....approached him with my vehicle....as he saw me he.....told me to ........off and shot across the highway to the opposite side...i got off at the next off ramp....lost him unfortunately.....

sadly as i read this tread i draw the conclusion that posting an opinion could leave you open to criticism, which i have no problem with. However the OP being an open minded person and thinking it good to report something suspicious seems to be ridiculed for it......hmmmm shame on you Hub members for always finding fault...No one at any stage said an overall wearer could not ride an Italian or other famous brand bike.....a red rose will always stand out between yellow ones..."purposely used the color scheme"....

the bottom line is, 99% of the time a person wearing an overall and no helmet riding an Italian brand bike with a race number attached would come across as very suspicious..

GOOD ON YOU OP

So even though your intentions might be good....don't mention it on this hub as your suspicion is might not be warranted....

hahahaha....was very entertaining....thanks for starting the fire...lolol

he didnt start the fire, its always been burning since thehub's been turning...ok that is lame

Classic hub this, claude you a rockstar, screw the PC brigade...a simple, "jou aunty se ding skiet vim" shuts them up

Still, there is a bigger chance for a person wearing an overall on a pina to be a criminal than not - there is always exceptions as well

Yip, with all the knock-off Pinas around, lots of guys on the wrong side of the law....

I honestly don't see what the issue is...OP spotted something he felt was suspicious, made comment on 'who am I to judge' but still felt it was important enough to post, just in case it would help reunite someone with their bike JUST IN CASE....Good on you OP, surely this is what a community is all about. And if it was me in the blue overalls riding my Pina and I saw this...I'd honestly have a good laugh and introduce myself and I certainly wouldn't be offended in any way what-so-ever...

Maybe you should have read the other posts first ^^ and not a wannabe ;) ... and who is this Oscar you speak of?

This thread reminds me of when I went to work in the UK...

If you spoke to a single brit they would moan about how the Pakis were ruining Britain by bringing all their families over, not speaking English, building mosques, stealing British jobs etc. Get two or more in a room together and they just about fell over each other trying to convince each other that multiculturalism was wonderful and awesome and good for the country etc.

I get the feeling thehub is the same - catch one hubber by himself and he is a normal human who makes mistakes - the same dude online is a paragon of virtue who can beat up 10 MMA fighters whilst reading his bible and being kind to women, children and working on a cure for AIDS/cancer.ebola in his spare time.

Good on the OP for Posting! If we don't look out for each others bikes, who will?

A few years back, I saw a gent casually pedalling a gleaming carbon 29r dual suss, in overalls, coming up the dirt verge past me in peak hour traffic. No helmet, no cleats. At that point, we were having a lot of bike jacking's in the surrounding area, so it got my attention.

I decided I would follow the guy and see where he landed up. I was going through a whole bunch of scenarios as to how I should proceed, but I had made up my mind that this bike didn't belong to the rider.

3 blocks later, he turns into a parking area, and rides straight up to my LBS... He was dropping the bike off for his employer.

Lesson learnt: if it doesn't look right, it probably isn't. The point is it wasn't HIS bike. He happened to be on an errand, for its rightful owner.
