Goodbye Dstv

Netflix and hulu+ that is the way.

+1, Im on a 2meg adsl line from Telkom, and 96% of the time there is no problem with lag. I pay about R90 per month for Netflix. I run my Netflix through my Xbox and that makes it very easy. I also use Unotelly as my VPN server. Think that is R80 per month but well worth it as it increases your torrent speed and overall line speed.

I have been thinking about this for some time now, gatvol of repeats on dstv, paying R800 for premium (which by the way only have a few ok-ish channels). Me and my more beautiful other half are now looking at having ADSL installed,so that we can download movies/series,and watch it whenever we have time and when we are not cycling. Who else are doing the internet tv thing,is it worth it,because I heard stories about lines being made slow to hamper steaming ect (but I intend to download, not stream). Can anybody please give me some tips ect?

Do it right and you won't regret it. Did it 3 years ago, miss only the HD Sport, but movies etc a plenty.

I'm on 2mbps uncapped (business), so can comfortably use 100gb / month. A bit slow for streaming, but does work, depending on the site and quality.

There's another thread, about 2 years old, where I gave a list of sites for series and movies. Try PROJECT FREE TV google it.

ALSO

There's a cool app for phone/tab

SOCCER AND CRICKET LIVE INDIETV

that has SKYSPORTS streaming, so you can watch Skysports in HD and ChromeCast to the TV!!!

Easy enough to use something like J DOWNLOADER and download off streaming sites.

Uncapped - throttled & shaped

Capped - unthrottled, unshaped

I'm on a 4Mbps line, 150GB per month through Afrihost and it ROCKS> Use it for gaming, and my ping is EXCELLENT. Also got XBMC running, with CouchPotato and SABNZBD in the background, but I just haven't set it up properly yet and we've lagged behind in the series. Nothing a short browse of torrentz.eu won't sort out. And when your torrents come down at 400Kbps, it's a revelation.

wow that is fast

Try WIZIWIG for streaming sport, more than you can watch.

and others.

They don't operate anymore: http://www.wiziwig.tv/offline.html

"Today is a sad day for all fans of live sports streaming, as we at Wiziwig have to announce that we're forced to close our website, at least for now. This due to new laws in Spain which will get into force starting tomorrow, the 1st January 2015"

If you think that's fast try out LTE, because just Damn...

Pick what you want to watch for the evening and five minutes later the entire nights tv is downloaded and ready to go.

yeah, I know. Only problem is the price of data via cellular networks. Can't WAIT for the tv signal to go digital. Will bring down the cost of data hugely
