CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK

Playing the role of any Seller's liaison to the forum is beyond the scope of your role, I reckon.

Be careful with such a power move.

I don't think any user can be granted such privilege with the forum owner.

I think you intended well but being a 3rd party in that scenario is not your responsibility.

Rather act within the scope of your obligations and close the thread and/or issue warnings.

With respect

I hardly come to the Hub any longer, not for any specific reason, but because this place has become a few hubbers soap box, when things do not go their way or their awesomeness gets called into question another thread is created bemoaning another thread cause someone said something.

<snip snip snip>

Mackie, has it EVER been any different?  So to the OP, ignore and stay off the Hub for a month or 36 and you'll come back and realise it's a cycle the place goes through.  The soap box crowd uses handbags (and pitchforks) at 20 paces!

The matter needs to be resolved, but yesterday proved that this forum is not an appropriate channel for it. No constructive resolution will come from this.

That same could be said about at least 50% of threads and they don't get closed.

The issue has more to do with poor moderation, the posters with threats etc should have been dealt with promptly and not allowed to degenerate like they did (on the hub), getting involved  afterwards locking and deleting relevant posts is not constructive either.

I'm sorry Matt, you are favoring LK. Why I don't know she is not even a loyal regular on the forum.

If she is really "innocent" then IF allowed that will become evident over time.

Sure. However it seems the OP tried in vain to get some sort assistance from her and from what it looks like she was extremely unhelpful. If you are innocent make it known straight away. Don't hide. That is where I saw it from.

Yes I also see that sequence of events, but then I see a group of members who decided that without giving her the opportunity to present her side of the case NOW THAT IT WAS PUBLIC, they would take her through the mill and trash everything about her BEFORE she has even had a chance to respond! Surely the family's standing in the world of SA cycling should have afforded them some grace to present their side and not have them subjected to the type of response befitting a known scam artist! (Not excluding the possibility they may very well have ended up becoming once all the facts had been presented. No chance of that now because of the stance from the community)

I find the victimization of Lisa Kelsey so disgusting that I'm closing my account on this forum. Those involved should take a long hard look in the mirror. Only ONE person came out and apologized publicly. The rest of you worms either defended your actions or tried to suck a WOMAN into a dirty internet fight.

One mention of the word Hub to most real riders will get eyes rolling and comments such as Keyboard Jockey flying. I can no longer be on this forum. It's just too embarrassing.

For those of you who don't know Lisa is the sister in law of Myles Kelsey. A multiple SA champion and 2013 Masters World Champion. How many World Championship medals do you hero's have?

I understand where you're coming from but to be honest it's a small part of the whole and if you want to see change and make it into something else then you have to be here. Much like trail building! There are alot valid points in that thread and questions needing to be answering but realistically between the 2 people involved. The rest is just popcorn fodder, speculation and tomorrow it'll be something new... probably Argus seedings!

You've been around long enough to know there is good here, there is random and there is stupid.   If you're fed up with the stupid then don't let the stupid take over and diminish the useful stuff (no, i'm not calling everyone stupid - pitch forks down). I'm skimming over the negative stuff here now, I don't need that and most of it doesn't need to be fed.

Plus, who's going to tell us about build days and make us feel all guilty about not pitching in one  morning to maintain the trails that we ride, praise, moan, bitch and sook about.

Go for a ride then come back. It takes all sorts, just like the sport we love.

new rules are going to be published soon Swiss.

as you know the moderation has always relied on reports for the overall management, otherwise things are left to sort themselves out. was it middle last year when there was the spat about "to much" moderation ?

And a reading of the hub's rules bears this out...

We will not tolerate posting the contents of any private conversations (Private Message, email or otherwise) or the posting the private information of any individual. Unless the information is already publicly available elsewhere it should not be posted on The Hub. We reserve the right to remove such postings

(Note: not my bolding; copied as is.)

Remember, the info was not private. I will admit, I did not check out the links, and as far as I remember by reading the 27 pages last night, the seller changed her settings after, so now it is private.

What is the difference with fb with no privacy settings and an article I write in the Huisgenoot  for Dr Sympathy or whatever he/she is called? You can not get upset if a link to that article is posted on a public forum?

I think it has been different, it was the exception, look at the latest topics, almost every second thread is someone taking offence to someone else, the animosity, arrogance and aggressiveness has expand exponentially of late.

The owners of this site closing a thread after a conversation with a third party, and then disallowing a response is unacceptable, that there is a reason to leave here.....

Agreed, I am on the same page, that thread should have been shut ages ago, it appears that it could be in fact proved who was in the wrong, but alas, we are denied, by p1ss poor moderation and cowardness...

Speaking on behalf of OM here, but highly doubt that is the message OM is trying to convey.

To me it reads, that this is a respected family who does a lot for cycling in South Africa and not some scam artists trying to pull a fast one. As such they should have received a different interaction from the community than the abuse they have received before all of the real facts had been presented.

I think every person can say they come from a respected family and this does not automatically entitle her to preferential treatment. Every person has a right to form their own opinion based on the facts presented. I don't believe the buyer would have gone to this extreme if he was trying to con someone. I also think the buyer would not have missed a crack that big after unpacking the bike. Like I said in the previous thread, I am of the opinion that there was a highline crack present before sale, which was aggravated when the buyer went for a cycle. I'm basing my opinion on what has been presented thus far. I also maintain my view that all this could have been avoided had the seller just gone and put in a warranty claim.

So much drama on the hub this week.

Worst part none of it had to do with how brutal Killarney was this week! (Actual cycling in real life) :P

There were some pretty quick MTBers riding and some even quicker roadies :D

I am just going to leave this photo here and a link :P

There has to be more serious issues here than just this thread. Matt (who I don't know at all) wouldn't allow a mob to descend into his 'physical shop' and destroy property, so I totally understand why he should want to protect his intellectual property. And I am not a lawyer, and I have no clue if the issue in question is sub-judice or just sub-standard but all the parties probably have more at risk than they think. Wish a proper legal Eagle could contribute (cos I may be totally wrong)
