Barker Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Notice the setting \ background colour has also changed from green to a brown.

Matt Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Mod note: Lets keep this one on track guys. While all the hipster comments are certainly in jest and good spirits lets give the OP a chance to show the much awaited "in between" pics and keep it on topic.

BartZ Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 No no. The major difference is that what appears to be a proper belter in the first pic has been replaced by a simple blanking plate on the wall which clearly cannot serve the same function. It appears the good doc has done bananas.

It invites the "robust" treatment it received.
shaper Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Is there a reference of website link to Dr George.... how can we check his credentials that he did and is capable of doing what he did??
javadude Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Is there a reference of website link to Dr George.... how can we check his credentials that he did and is capable of doing what he did?? He's an institution in SA cycling, theres no doubting his credibility. Mean Machine has been around since I was a young kid, and its true, he has a PHD. The pictures are just confusing because the first pic doesn't show any damage, the bike looks fine. In the second pic the bike looks like it has a serious issue with the head angle, as though someone has left their bike on their roof rack and driven into their garage.
Wyatt Earp Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Remove the pics and everything to keep the hub happy and say this. George is a legend .
braailegend Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I've been looking at these two pictures for too long, haha..

She will decide what can and will be said?
the nerd Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Well, forgive the cynic in me, but I am a tad skeptical about this thread - it has the hallmark of a bs marketing ploy. It invites the "robust" treatment it received. Just because you have no idea who George is doesn't mean he isn't a legend in cycling in SA, it just means you don't know of him. He straightened a mangled fork on my brothers vintage daccordi, same thing, cold bending. He is a legend of the old school bike shop, where things can be fixed, probably one of the very few left.
Guest notmyname Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Ooops, Baleka Mbete is on THEHUB. She will decide what can and will be said?Clearly you've been absent.
Bonus Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 You see in the second pic the electric plug outlet has been removed and replaced with a blanking plate? We'll all be doing that soon . . . . B.
Andrew_Russell Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Hi All, I did not take in between pictures - its the last thing that one feels like doing after smashing a vintage bike. I have updated the post with a close-up of the repaired bend. As you can see, its not perfect, but still brilliant workmanship by Dr George considering the force of the accident. Dr George doesn't have a website - he runs an old school local bike shop. He's worth giving a try. BRAndrew

BRAndrew George is a legend and taught me much of what I know.He is also the best wheel builder in this country. Your heading is a bit misleading though, it should read "Rave :Dr. George" or "Mean Machines Cycles"
