gogo@ Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 This from www.pedalpower.org.za with regard to the judgement for PPA in the case against CSA: "The first respondent, its officials or members, are interdicted and prevented from representing to any person or body, including commercial sponsors, local authorities, national, provincial or local traffic and policing authorities, or cyclists, that PPA requires such prior sanction, or that such sanction is a prerequisite for any other necessary permission or approval granted by national, provincial or local authorities." So how does this CSA sanction work for the CTCT then? Or is CSA excluded from these authorities? Anybody had a close look at the case/judgement?
Edgar Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 So who else wont be doing any CSA sanctioned races this year... Aaah, about 35 000 of us cyclists. Schweeeeeet, talk about an administrative way of hurting the sport they are supposed to be promoting and growing! Can't the PPA be a direct affliate of UCI? Has this been explored fully? Not unless they replace CSA as the recognized body. And it is unlikely to affect 35 000 riders as most of CTCT participants don't have domestic or UCI racing licenses.

GLuvsMtb Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Perhaps there is an opportunity here. Sell Cycling shirts with a message sending CSA to hell at the Expo. Position the stand strategically next to the CSA stand (do they even expo?).

Donovan Le Cok Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I posted a capture of the CSA twitter feed in my earlier post. The picture has been removed now. Is this no longer allowed? To the mods apologies if this is the case.
Skubarra Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 So basically if you ride the Argus, you can't ride Epic or any other CSA/UCI race for a month and have to pay a fine. For the first time ever I will have an impressive sounding excuse for not doing the Epic....
Tubehunter Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Well it was, until CSA unilaterally rewrote the constitution. Yes, I recall PPA wanting to fit into the SACOC framework when they originally became part of the CSA structures. Before CSA sprung the whole let us dig into your coffers bit! Clearly that option is no longer viable with CSA and by extension SASCOC's new direction, considering agreements where in place just last year wrt this event that now hold no water. Come on PPA, go to UCI direct?

To the mods apologies if this is the case. It's allowed. I refreshed your post and it appears to have returned. Please let me know if it disappears again. We've also recently enabled embedded tweets, if it's easier, just add the link to the tweet in your post.

GoLefty!! Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Ok so I haven't read the entire thread, but I know about the mid singing happening between PPA and CSA. This simply reads as if CSA has gone to UCI and said, PPA is not playing our game or is that listening to us tell them what to do and how the land works ... as such notify all your members, if any take part in "that other groups race" we will behave like 2 year old and sanction them. CSA behaving like a child. Easiest solution, man up, recognise the Cape Town Cycle Tour... G better solution, man up and only support PPA events. Take a stand and rid yourself of the drug
Barker Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 no he didn't. according to racetec he didn't finish the 2010 event. http://results.cycletour.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=2010&SID=1&EN=Sun%2014%2F03%2F2010%20Cape%20Argus%20Pick%20n%20Pay%20Cycle%20Tour%20%28110km%29 Funny. dev null Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 So when my boy goes on to race XCO in the Junior Men (U18) cat, he won't be allowed to ride the CTCT? For now he is the Youth Men (U16) cat, which is OK since he would not yet be UCI affiliated even if he has a CSA and Domestic Racing Licence?
GoLefty!! Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 your boy basically cannot ride any fun ride with pals or family because he is effect owned by the UCI and its affiliates So when my boy goes on to race XCO in the Junior Men (U18) cat, he won't be allowed to ride the CTCT? For now he is the Youth Men (U16) cat, which is OK since he would not yet be UCI affiliated even if he has a CSA and Domestic Racing Licence?
