How to reinflate tyres after refillling sealant

Use a siringe with a needle and inject the sealant through the tyre. Spin the wheel and the small little hole will seal. This way you do not even loose preasure.

I crack a few inches of tyre off over the rim using two tyre levers.

Turn the wheel so that the "gap" is at the bottom.

Squeeze in the desired amount of sealant straight from the bottle.

Turn the wheel so the "gap" is back at the top.

Thumb the tyre back over the rim.

Pump up using a track pump - I usually over inflate the tyre slightly to make sure the bead re-seats nicely - you'll hear it pop when it does.

Spin the wheel to spread the sealant.

Job done.

If your tyre is tubeless then the valve will have a removable core, no matter which system you use.

I also agree with the Presta -Schrader adapter and going to a petrol station for reseating.

I have a valve or 2 that do NOT have removable cores #eksemaarnet

Can those fibres some of the sealants (most?) contain get through the needle?

Not unless its a really thick one, otherwise the sealant wouldnt be working properly if it didnt clog!

I guess it depends on your rim & tyres but I usually deflate my tyre, remove the valve core and fill with a syringe. Replace the valve core, open the valve & re-inflate. The only time you would need a bomb is if you break the bead seal.

Don't forget to dip the inner end of the core in some Vaseline (aka Petroleum Jelly), latex will not stick to petroleum based products so it wont clog up the core.

I normally take the weight of the tyre (hang from washing line) to minimise the risk of the bead popping off. then fill through valve and inflate with floor pump. Does any body know if these 12volt tyre inflators will be able to seat the bead on the rim thinking about getting one to save the drive to petrol station.

Emergency compressors do not have enough pressure to seat the bead.

Not even close. Those things are slower than a floor pump.

I've had some luck with spraying on some misty soapy water on the beading and inside of the rim when putting it back. The soap mixture seems to create just enough back preasure for you to inflate it with a reasonable foot pump.

It was to much of a headache though, so I got on of these Stans syringes and it's the easiest. Just unscrew the valve internals, screw on the supplied nozzle, pump your sealant in and re-inflate, easy job.

save yourself the hassle of a trip to the garage - reinflate the tire with the valve core removed. I'm a wuss chick and I can inflate both my stans tubeless as well as hubby's horrid DT swiss with an cheap and nasty floor pump.

Before i used the valve core way, i use to also open up a small piece until oneday i tried to get the geax back on the stans rim, and damging the rim tape and ended up with bloody fingers and stans on the floor and a tyre that could not inflate and i could not ride the next day!! Never doing it again.

He he just finished wrestling with this; despite a compresser my Nobby Nic would not seat but I had removed the tyre. Those tyres will slip off the bead if you remove the valve core and let the thing go flat.  Then you sukkel.  So you have to sneak up on these tyres.

My only success has been to leave a little air in the tyre, remove the valve core with trusty finger holding the pressure then quickly press in the tapered sealant tube and slowly inject the sealant, keeping some air in the tyre. Removal has a bit of blow back of sealant before the trusty finger can do his job, slip in the core and, all quickly, on with your good floor pump and pomp like a bliksem.

To get the tyre to seat, valve core out, direct connection to compresser, a bit of sealant or soapy water round the bead, pull (or use a lever) to get as much of the tyre bead up onto the rim where it seats as possible (from the Tube), don't let the bottom of the tyre touch the ground and turn on the air. Once it seats (praise be) it's finger and valve core.
