Hi Guys,

i have a set of carbon road bars that seem to have a crack in them.

the crack in in the drop area.

the image of the bars below is just to show where the crack is.

the crack is effectively where the guys thumb is.

the actual bars are difficult to photograph. i'll try again tomorrow with some sunlight

what are your thoughts on repairing carbon bars?

think it is safe?

or just not worth the risk?

yep, thought so.

damn. they are top end bars. Cinelli Ram bars.

funny thing, i replaced my bars and took the damaged bars off my bike.

i fell last over 3 years ago!

so i recon i have been really lucky so far.

so next question:

throw them in the bin?

or??

Make some cycling furniture....like a coat rack or rack to hang your helmets etc on....the list is endless...use your imagination!

But please don't sell them...that would be endangering someone else....and karma is a buck-toothed tokolosh that will come back to bite you.

Or...?

destroy them?

donate them to someone who wants to take the risk? (not sure on this one)

actually i might hack off the damaged bit and use them on my single speed...

2nd time I've seen something similar in 2 weeks. I was amazed when the other owner told me he was slowly cycling uphill when he lost his balance and completely snapped his bars.

I've just placed an order to replace my Fizik R1's with Aluminium R3's.

Having that bar repaired is opening the risk of a serious face plant. New bar is the only option

I got lucky this year with carbon mtb bar that came off in my hand. Don't tempt fate.

Seems like a very odd place to go, must have been crash related
