No, it is still A S-Q-L...

No sane English speaker would say "an SQL".

You're welcome

Hahaaa try again, say it out loud.

We shall agree to disagree

I tried it out loud and it came out "an S Q L", but then again, I am an Afrikaans speaker and some say, not sane either....

But of course you are right. It is Sequel.

That's probably the problem. I'm not sane either... But we have more fun :D

I am still grammatically correct, and you're making a point for saying it wrong anyway:

And then to complicate matters further...... it's not based on the actual letter (vowel or consonant) but rather on the "sound" of the letter....

http://grammar-monster.com/lessons/an_or_a.htm

So...

SQL as in sequel is a ss (consonant) sound, so "a" is used.

SQL as in S-Q-L is a eh-ss (vowel) sound, so "an" is used.

We're all welcome?!

English is a funny language, but basically I'm right, Lurchy is wrong. I Agree :P

We can argue into oblivion about your incorrect pronunciation. ;)

You concede. I accept. You, as the stickler for rules knows you do not argue with ISO standards. :D
