I think it is the ultimate device,

the only issue for me is the price.

If money is not an issue, buy it. I would if I could

I have the edge 1000, been using it for a couple of weeks. Nice screen size, and better quality than the edge 800. Connectivity features work 100%. bluetooth sync, etc.

As mentioned price is an issue but if you don't have any issues importing I can point you in the right direction (about 5.5k for the unit without hr, cadence, etc).

I've owned the 605, 705, 800, 810, and now the 1000. It's the best unit yet. Yes, price is steep but worth it i.m.o.

After a year of flawless service, mine is driving me nuts with random shut downs, sometimes as often as every two minutes.

Still - a very cool device, even if we are going through a bit of a bad patch!

Edge 1000 or Fenix3 ?

.

That's a tough call....

I have the Fenix3 and it is an amazing watch!!!!! Love it!!!

It just dont have enough data fields for cycling in my opinion, but except for that.....all worth it!!!

Software is "easier" than the 510 and 800 that I had before the 1000.

Nifty little features here and there.

Amazing screen.

Easy to upload to the web.

Love mine!!

Got my Garmin Edge 1000 today....will be testing it out tomorrow.

Please explain to me, how do you get the power (watts) data field to pick up power / watts?

I'm I missing something here or has it something to do with the Vector Pedals?

Yup, sadly you will need a power metre which will likely cost  more than your head unit...  the vector pedals will do, or you can get something like stages (crank arm) or a number of hub-based options (powertap etc)

If you have a power meter, you just need to pair it with the head unit.  Off you go.

Had my 1000 for a day, bluetooth connected with first ride and the battery didnt last that long. Screen size way to big and not that great overall as everyone says!

I will rather wait for edge 520 or will get the 810
