Hi guys. Merging the 3/4 Suiker threads would be good. I plan to go there this weekend. Anyone know which gates are open to get in? I usually use the gate (dunno the name) by coming off the N3 South.. right back over the highway, and then left into the reserve and drive str8 to the carpark0 wonder if that way is open?

Can you peeps change the name of the place you ride, pleeze...every time Suikerbos is mentioned I get images of that darn hill at the top of Houtbaai... :whistling:, and then open the thread to see it is about some place off in Idontwannagothereland....

If you call that short, flattish stretch of road between Houtbaai and Llandudno a hill, you obviously have not been to the Suikerbosrand...,

The north gate is definitely open.  This is the one where the Protea Hotel used to be.

So at 7am this morning the main gate swung open and all cars were waved straight through, gratis, free, mahala. Thought we would be asked to pay on the way out. But no! I didnt want to provoke the natives so i didnt ask any questions. I see there is still no water in the toilets though.

I was lucky enough to be there this morning too.

IT WAS FREE! But i wouldn't mind paying R100 to ride there.

Men's toilet had water.

As always... Take your own toilet paper.

I just wish it would get easier

Snuck out this morning and did a loop at the reserve. Not one car. Two other cyclists. Saw baboon, hartebees, zebra, wildebeest and a monster herd of eland. Wonderful beautiful morning.

And 40 min drive from my house. How amazing.
