Sani2C riders banned after reporting flasher

Some people want a certain a reaction to their complaints, and when they don't get it they throw toys. The "I want to speak to the manager" or "do you know who I know" types......

I will put 20 buck on it that it was their reaction to not getting the reaction that they wanted that caused Farmer Glen to react in the way he did.

After paying good money to do this race I think anybody got the right to "throw their toys  " and be heard if thing goes pear-shaped !!

Yep.

OK now I also want to share my high value opinion that is coincidentally the correct way of viewing this situation and life in general: (I'm kidding, really)

Seriously though

I understand rape and assault and ladies alone in the bush makes for the stuff of nightmares and ruined lives - I pray none of us ever experience this. All I'm saying is, everyday I go MTBing with my expensive bicycle - I know and accept the risks I'm exposing myself to. FG and crew, as far as I know, do all they can to make it safe as possible and REASONABLE for us. This IS Africa, I LOVE Africa, and I CHOOSE to cycle in the bush exposed to Lions, sharks and criminals (and nudists).

I expect FG to give me a safe route from Underberg to Scotties.

I DON'T (CAN'T) expect FG to stand with his shotgun around every corner.

I live in Sandton, another man lives in the bush - we have different views on entitlement and morality. If he is too much of a risk to me, I won't cycle past his front door.

air riffle in the chopper, and he kills 2 birds(nudists) with 1 stone(bullet)

Thats true (but that wasnt the point I was making), just as Farmer Glen also has the right to not accept your money if he doesn't want to.

not to make light of the situation but on the one van gaalens 24 hour an old granny flashed me in the woods late at night,,,   emotionally scared for life,, i couldnt sleep after that i suppose she helped me in the end :whistling:

I am not sure Escapee is old enough to be addressed as "granny"

The events that transpired to them not being allowed to ride again seems to have happened after the transaction that you refer too.

"Dear Farmer Glen, somebody flashed me in the woods as I was cruising along on my Mtb... please could you look into the matter for future Sani2c's"

Farmer Glen "How dare you... you're banned! Banned, banned, banned!"

The end

there is a fine line between engaging and discussing and "throwing your toys"...my guess is that this line was crossed in this instance

This doesnt sound like FG, why would he have said it three times in that last sentence?

True. Point is that everything that happens along more than 200km cannot be controlled by a single entity. If it is for anyone to respond it should be the SAPS (Ha Ha) or the claimants to explain better. I maintain this is not the full story. The one that brings it up must explain the injustice.

When I first saw the thread heading I thought what *** how can anyone be banned for reporting a flasher and just ignored it, today saw it is still alive.

Probably this

I hate these 2 or 3 sided debates when none of the involved parties participate...

Same, all of this is speculation  until interested parties respond.... hopefully it doesn't become a Swen Lauer - UCI certified MTB & BMX Coach l KTM bikes/Giro/Crank brother Ambassador l Product Designer l Founder of Pedal2Medal bike school  thread

It's not so different if you happen to be at the tail of the field, a couple of minutes behind your team mate. How long do you think it would really take for a man to overpower a tired lady rider and drag her 20 meters into the bush?

Security is a BIG concern, and FG should give it the highest priority.

I totally agree with you on how easy it is to over power a rider and that it poses a risk.  With that said though, this should be asked of every single cycling event? How would you resolve this issue?

Start by not banning participants who raise it as a serious concern?  :whistling:

Tell you what.

If Farmer Glen banned them for simply raising a serious concern, I will boycott all of his rides.

If he banned them for another transgression (like throwing toys and threatening him), I will not and will you concede to never ride any of his rides again?
