As i mentioned i am all for a kid standing up for himself but to go onto a public forum and make unsubstantiated claims is not the right way of dealing with things.Face Plant, as it seems you were part of the administration of the event, please can you enlighten us on exactly why there was no 3rd place prize. Coincidence aside, this is very, very strange.

The belated grudging recognition, and offer of a hamper is indicative that you / your mate fouled up, and screwed the kid out of his hard won prize and recognition. Why not just apologise to him and be done with it? @Heinz well done on your result. Your parents must be real proud of you. And kudos to you for the way you are handling the matter. So being a kid allows him to say what he wants, but more specifically, as he wants too. I perceived the kid's attacks as quite personal. Raise your issues, but with respect. I would've flipped as well if he came at me with these allegations. As for screwing the kid, eish, so people are "out to get him"? Sounds like a third force is behind this. I wonder if "die groot krokodil" is involved. Sjeez, I must get back to riding my motorbike. Hehehehehe, PK's at dawn and a beer afterwards. SwissVan Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Did not report the faulty results because at the time there were no faults , on the provisional results I was listed as YM Other than being first in a recognized SA MTB category what made you think you would be receiving a prize for being first in YM? How long after the prize giving ceremony did u report / ask why you did not get a prize..and what was said?

He knew the rules well enough to know he couldn't back track on the trail. As hard as it was for him he could do nothing but stand and wait. He even asked a cameraman if he had seen how far back jaro was and what was wrong.Know the rules, stick to them and if you get penalised then accept it. If you could state that you followed the rules and complaints to the letter then maybe, but at the moment you are just marking your name in RED.

Fortunately for the OP a lot can happen with two years of proper development and focus. Looking at what he achieved at the race before ( Clarens) he placed 4th in the youth category so clearly he's up there but the guys are 10 minutes ahead of him on a 2 hour race. I bet you they're not worried about hampers and apologies, they're out there focussed on their training. Heinz, just remember the Hub loves a good scrap, it entertains them, usually reserved for Friday's but you weren't to know that! So you'll get a great amount of support here as well as some detractors. But ask yourself the following do you want make a career out of cycling? Or do you want to take up politics? If it's the latter you have a nice pool of votes right here on the Hub, they like the fact that as a 16 year old you stood up for yourself and that takes courage. People like to see that because it is such a rare commodity. However, if you have ambitions as a competitive rider you are going to need sponsors and sponsors want to see someone who can represent their brand, that means you to have your own brand. So ask yourself does this thread represent the best of brand Heinz, the competitive cyclist? Focus Boet Focus!

Total prize money is R25 000 not 30K like you state later on. You also say that they advertised "all catogories" === ? No they don't Your first post makes even less sense now! If there is ONE thing you can learn today, if you want to kick up a fuss, make sure you have all the FACTS and all the FACTS correctly set out. (For excample) 25k is 25k and it does not become 30k later on.
