We have club runs on Saturdays and Sundays in the Wild Wild West. We have lots of runners that cannot afford to do races every weekend, so we try and accommodate them. Any club run more than 21km we organize waterpoints, else we stop at garages.

Speedy recovery Ferret. Can't believe that you had all that metal in your body!! Good grief!

Will you every get on a bicycle again?

Thanks Hacc

Have already done 3 or 4 Road Bike Rides in the cradle, and had my first Ride on my New Mountain Bike last weekend.. I Love Mountain Biking...  I cant let one Prat behind a wheel scare me away..

With the new small setback I'm probably looking to admit defeat on Comrades 2017 and do Sani2C instead...

Now that I can place them against the X-rays its freak me out a little

Home stretch now though

Holy Sh@t. That must have been sore. That's some huge screws. I'm sure you can re-use them in and around the house  :whistling:

Yeah they used to be from the VA on Saturdays and club on Sundays. Then GB became the CM of RH and they moved to the club on both Saturdays and Sundays,, Now he has gone to B2r but I believe they are still being run from Randburg Harriers Sports Club on both days... I could be mistaken though.

I can confirm that Randburg Harries has club runs on Saturday and on Sunday :)

This is true. Have not seen a post by Mornay & co w.r.t. this weekend. These are normally announced closer to the weekend. With Om die Dam on Saturday, the club run might be a bit smaller than normal?

what is the level of pain?

sharp needle in the side of the knee?

or

dull pain?

sharp needle = itbs

dull pain - stretch and run

Sorry didn't see your post

It is a deep dull pain at the side of my leg on the ITB band, about 10 cm up from the knee. The longer I run the more the pain until its gets to a point where is not possible. The pain spreads to the lower part the ITB and quad.

I thought Sundays club run would also be a bit of a small crowd due to Sarens but there was actually a lot of runners there on the morning.

However I don't think that Sarens is as popular as Om Die Dam

These Last 2 weeks i'm going through a bit of a dip in my training. I am getting the mileage in, but its just that i am gatvol. Tired of running all alone and because here in the slowveld, we only have about 3 -4 routes to train on. So its getting boring running the same route over and over again.

that's interesting - I quite enjoy training on my own...here are my reasons:

1. It build mental strength

2. you are only focusing on your pace and are not being sped up or slowed down by others

Don't get me wrong...I dont mind if I tag along and chat to someone en route, but the main advantage of training on your own is that you can run from your doorstep..the idea of getting in my car to a group meet point is not my idea of fun.

I pretty much run the same route daya in day out week by week...being OCD helps with things like this

My advice and from some experience......

carry on running and do glutes exercises every night..

squats

these things  (using your butt) 20 each side

and these - but extend the free leg right out so that your back is perpendicular to the floor - 15 each side

and then do Andrew's ITB kitchen counter stretch whenever you can...cue Andrew with his video....

That's a good thing! If you're getting bored it means you're putting in the training! Keep it up dude. Your strava shows good numbers. You're looking in great shape. Here's to finding more motivation from the preparation you have put in so far mate! The goal is on the horizon. Finish strong!

You and me both! I've honestly had enough of all the training... especially the long solo rides, It's not fun anymore. Luckily my taper started this week, only 3 more weeks to go.

I know the feeling, it is difficult to stay motivated when all you do is run day in and day out. (Especially when you are struggling (like me))

I also like running on my own now and again, I see it as "me" time, but maybe you should get a training buddy. (Even if it is only for one or two runs a week)

Do you do trail running?

Are there not more interesting routes close by you can do over weekends?

Maybe include some cross-training like cycling, going to the gym?

I also enjoy running on my own, but i think the work stress and my son being diagnosed with adhd is maybe also a factor.

But hey, training for the Comrades cant be all smooth sailing  :w00t: . Otherwise what will be complaining about then  :whistling:

Glute exercises is the only thing that will get rid of itbs. No amount of rubbing, resting or rolling will work.
