Sorry Cobus, only saw this now... was only a handful of us on Sat... was supposed to be over a dozen, but the weather seemed to put a few off. Pretty sure anyones welcome, we're a friednly social bunch, but it's not a constant thing - distance and time are long debated on whatsapp groups in advance.

I was introduced to a new beast of a hill Sat... hidden somewhere in Observatory, basically Sylvia Passes big daddy - hidden away little switch back hell in a culdesac. Might have to go run it again, was a proper challenge.

Thanks for the info. I'm always looking for alternatives other than running a race - I prefer club runs since there are always a few people running and you run at a more acceptable pace. Added to that it is there are no cost to run and you don't have to be up before 4 to dodge traffic.

We used to (and still do during the holidays) do RAC's club runs, but since it is on Sundays it interferes with church. Pity that no running club in Pretoria offer any club runs, expect Magnolia. But that also on a Sunday...

Goes and looks at activity to find said hill.

67km is not bad at all. I normally average 65 to 70km for Comrades, with one or two weeks where it will go over 100kms.

I had a terrible week last week. The plan was 30km on Saturday and a 10 -12 km on Sunday.

On Saturday my legs were dead tired after ODD... I struggled so the 30 became a 20km. Saturday night a brick fell on my foot (I am dead serious and there was no alcohol involved) Luckily it seems to be ok, and that nothing is broken, just a bit bruised. So yesterday I slept most of the day and felt sorry for myself and angry at myself about the injury.  I ran 20km less than my planned week.

This week it is Irene 48km... I hope the weather is going to be like yesterday and not ODD.

I will test the foot tonight on a 10km - hoping it is going to be ok.

There is nothing worse than an unforseen injury. Hopefully it is ok.

A local strava friend on this side was looking splendid for a good oceans. She did a 3:10 pmb marathon (3rd female) and then accidentally tripped one morning and torn her ligaments in her ankle. all that work.....hopefully she will be ok for oceans..but..it is a long shot

Anyone doing the Jackie Gibson 42 or 21 on Sunday at Kilber PArk ALberton"?

I have done the marathon before, I enjoyed it. As far as I can remember it has one tough climb and then some rolling hills.

Hope she is going to be ok. That is an excellent marathon time!

This reminds me of Charne Bosman last year who broke her pinkie toe 7 weeks before WINNING Comrades...

Also doing the Irene Ultra this weekend, I'm hoping the weather is good and that my knees hold out for the race.
