Mudsimus Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 I thought Knysna was in July ?My bad, I've got another Knysna on my calendar. Hope you are going for a long run today.
Jackes Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 34:10 mins but at least I ran the whole way without stopping. Would Knysna half be to soon and is there a cutoff ? Full - too soonHalf - If all goes according to plan and no setbacks you could be ok, 9 weeks. But it might be too soon yes.
Lexx Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Is it just me, or is anyone else suddenly experience heavy legs and feel like you havent run in ages. Maybe its just the Comrades stress. Lol Andrew Steer 1
Tubehunter Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 I have joined the dark side. Having last put on a running shoe for anything but a walk with my dog in August 1992, my daughter inveigled me into joining her for the 5km parkrun around Rondebosh common this morning. 34:10 mins but at least I ran the whole way without stopping. Would Knysna half be to soon and is there a cutoff ? It can be done, but more importantly, how much are you willing to risk to get the finish? You are probably going to be sore when you line up and carry a few niggles that could be ripe for proper injuries, especially if you're targeting a time.Â
Tubehunter Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Is it just me, or is anyone else suddenly experience heavy legs and feel like you havent run in ages. Maybe its just the Comrades stress. Lol You're not alone! Not running in a good space and not feeling smooth or efficient. Actually feeling slow, but somehow I'm running faster on average than I ever have. Go figure! Gotta trust the training at some point!  You are putting in big mileage dude! If your legs were still fresh then you obviously would still be slacking! Embrace the process ekse! ScottCM and Lexx 2
Jackes Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Does anybody have the Garmin Forerunner 235 (Optical HRM)?  What is the battery life it?  There is conflicting info on the net, initially it was 11 hours, now it shows in some places as up to 16 hours???

After three years of never running injury free I eventually gave it up for cycling and triathlon. I will start slowly and build up to 21 at the end of the year. Tubehunter, Andrew Steer and ScottCM 3
mikkelz Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Nothing wrong with a Saturday trail run before a Sunday bike ride when you have views like this:Â https://www.instagram.com/p/BTv33BgAgJs/ Stretch, Andrew Steer, Tubehunter and 4 others 7
Barry Stuart Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Does anybody have the Garmin Forerunner 235 (Optical HRM)? Â What is the battery life it? There is conflicting info on the net, initially it was 11 hours, now it shows in some places as up to 16 hours???I'm running with one. I did a 6 hour training run with it once after having worn it overnight to use the alarm clock. I think when I started the run it was on about 95%. I left the HRM and Bluetooth on and didn't pause it at pit stops. If I recall correctly, when I finished I had about 40 something % left, so I'm sure it would get you through a Comrades, especially if you turned Bluetooth off. Turning off the HR would obviously add extra hours as well.
Stretch Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Is it just me, or is anyone else suddenly experience heavy legs and feel like you havent run in ages. Maybe its just the Comrades stress. LolMe too.... And I have a marathon tomorrow!! Lexx, Andrew Steer and Tubehunter 3

There is conflicting info on the net, initially it was 11 hours, now it shows in some places as up to 16 hours???My 230 gives me just under 10% per hour.. So I get about 11 hours with the external hrm... But that's not the optic hrm... So I guess that'll be less
Hacc Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Is it just me, or is anyone else suddenly experience heavy legs and feel like you havent run in ages. Maybe its just the Comrades stress. LolI feel exactly the same. I felt like this in previous years as well. So you are not alone. Don't worry about it. You have done a lot of training, sleeping and nutrition is now important. Hacc Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Good luck to everyone doing Colgate tomorrow, especially to ScottC-M running his first 32km. Take it easy on the first lap. The course is quite flat. Good luck with your marathon tomorrow, Stretch. Â Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk Tubehunter, Andrew Steer and Lexx 3

Decided as this is not my goal event and 1st attempt like you mentioned I will not aim for sub3 but rather 3.30. IM70.3 is the main goal in 6 weeks time, don't want to take any injury into that Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk Tubehunter, Stretch, Hacc and 1 other 4
