Barry - same here for me. I have a set of the original Sense Pro with over 700 k's on it looking like it has the same amount left in them - they are as good as new. (Except for not being washed...) Some wear and tear but nothing show-stopping.

A buddy of mine worn part of both his frontfoot through within 650k's.

I think it was you that asked about the Mazamas as well. (And as previously stated, the colour for the femaile version of the shoe is much nicer!) They run all their runs with us, gravel road, rocks, you name it. This same guy that killed his Sense Pro's ran Otter in them last year, another in our regular group ran Whale of Trail (talk about variety of conditions) with her Mazamas last weekend. No issues. Think they're much lighter than Cascadia, but since you fitted both, you can comment...

Andrew... the Speedcross is not something we should even be selling in SA (my opinion!) The tread is made for genuine wet conditions, I killed the tread on mine running normal trails. It is a very hot shoe - plus it is very narrow around the toes. Zero protection under the forefoot, which is to be expected if you run minimal, not with that kind of drop. It may be a good shoe for you, but it really did not work for me - and like I said, most of SA conditions don't match what it was designed for. (That said, this is for the 3 - I do not know what they've changed for the 4...)

Awesome, SeaBee, thanks for the info. Yeah, Mazama's are significantly lighter. I don't know what it is about Brooks but the colourways across their shoes look like they were designed by someone who's just been dumped and wants revenge on the world. The Sense definitely wins in the looks department and is lighter than the Mazama as well (based on a web search). I just need to get somewhere to try out the fit. I like a roomy toebox, which the Brooks have in abundance.

Finding Leadville's is becoming a bit of a challenge. It seems that NB has discontinued one of the few and possibly best motion control trail running shoes.

Poobies still has some. We still have some here in Bloem at Kloppers as well. We run in the NB 910 and are also very happy with them, no issues.

I just ran to work  sooo happy, been wanting to do it for a while now.

Used a 'small' cycling shirt under my warm top to carry my phone and clock-in card and locker key. Worked well.

Wonder if my legs will carry me home this afternoon, or if the storm will hit (as in really, bad rain predicted) and I will take the bus home.

Wish I could run / cycle to work.... we don't have shower facilities and I sweat heavily so a basin shower is not an option either... even in winter never mind our current semi heatwave weather

I found it a great way to stop getting invited to the productivity-killing meetings everyone else seemed to love.

What's the distance to your office, H? Good going.

What's the distance to your office, H? Good going.

The shortest route is 10km direct. (Boring down straight roads, but it has lights along the way so I will use it in the mornings when it is still dark outside). Back I took the pedestrian walk strip which is along a little river/stream and that is (if I take it all the way with the trail run section) about 14km.

When I ride in (in winter) I do 20 /25 /30km one way depending on weather and what km's I have to do to get to my weekly target.

I am not run fit yet, so I think one 'run day' to work a week should be sufficient for now with my other runs over the week. In my mind I can imagine doing it more times a week because combining commuting with exercise give me so much more time in the day for other things.

That's a really good distance, H. I'd be wary of doubling up to work and back in the beginning. I'm sure Uber will make its way to Middle Earth eventually but in the meantime you should be able to hitch a lift with a passing hobbit and his wizard friend.

Your fitness will come quickly, especially with that as a midweek run. Can't you stash one of your bikes at the office for days where you run in and then it's a pretty easy cycle home?

Here's hoping that the traffic and parking is not too much of a disaster for Old Ed's.

With over 5000 runners... be sure traffic and parking will be an issue.

I see from a discovery email we will get 2000pts for the 21km :)

Andrew how is the preparations coming along for your clubs Old Ed's race on Sunday?

Yeah, can tell there's a bit of stress in the club... my duties for Sunday are pretty straight forward and I've done them plenty times before, and no late entries on the morning sure helps too. But numbers up nearly 30% means everyone will be under pressure. Parking I fear will be the biggest issue, just not enough space around to make it a simple matter...

Arrive early! Enjoy the run, should be a cracker

Who else will be at Skukuza Tomorrow? Is it just me and Ferret. Was hoping to go for a PB but picked up a niggle on my calve, so will just have to take it easy. Good Comrades Qualifier is more important. If any other hubbers are going, I will be in the Nedbank Running Kit,LVCC.

Okay, swallow your coffee before reading this... I will not be held liable for any fluid-induced screen damage.

I am going to do my first MTB race (I'll ride it more than race, anyways!) tomorrow... in almost 2 years. It is longer than my last 2 month's riding combined. My last year's riding hardly ever included anything technical.

And in rehab for a tear in shoulder with a trail run next week and Cape Town marathon in... 6 weeks? What could possibly go wrong?!  :whistling:

Not to worry, taking it easy, enjoying the ride and anywhere I have doubt, I will "practice some trail running". Actually now that I've been talked into it, I am quite looking forward to it, esp with no pressure.

Oh, haha, even the organisers had a skrik when they saw my entry - I got two emails. First they seeded me in A batch... then they must've realised this idiot hasn't touched his MTB in years, so they promptly resseded me to C (the last batch).

It's gonna be a jol!
