Edgar Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Well done. Please could you send me any comments to me - good or bad for Irene Running Club so they can take it up for next year. I was the mad marshal at the 40km mark BTW. Thanks for a well put on race. The parking was managed much better this year, we get there early every year and it works for us. Excellent aid stations and friendly marshals, all in all a excellent race. Andrew Steer, ycowley and lurkerza 3
Fruity Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Anyone here run Durban City Marathon yesterday? I didn't run, as I had babysitting duty, but my wife ran the 21km. Sounds like quite a lekker run, and the runners had pretty good weather in Durbs yesterday. I think I might do it next year.
Dirkitech Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 To everyone who gave opinions and advice a few weeks ago when I asked about running shoes - thank you!I've bought the Brooks Ghost 11 since and am very happy with them. Everything they were described to be- fast feeling high drop, wide toe box, flexible, enough padding to feel like they absorb harder impacts. Running is great! soslow, Andrew Steer and Hacc 3
ycowley Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 So every year due to the single road entrance traffic is always a mess. Which as you know caused a delayed start. I knew this from last year so went very early and slept in my car. Other than that it's a really well organised race. Water points were brilliant, marshalling top notch and a nice vibe I like the fact that you get to see the Elites running at the midway turn around point. Just puts things in perspective, they are super humans. Definitely one of the better organized races Gauteng. But the guys running 5 hours or longer where the groups are much bigger might have a different experience. I really can't fault the race organizers on anything. (A second entrance to the venue would be great but I know there is only one entrance at the bottom) Or warn people to come earlyThank you for the pointers as well as the compliments. Will pass them onto the race organizing committee

Mudsimus Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Anyone run in the Nike Pegasus Turbo?I tried it on, but couldn't justify the price. Got the Zoom Fly instead. Im doing Comrades in the Pegasus 35, and if the Turbo is an improvement on them it must be a crazy good shoe. shaper 1

Reviews online are mixed, hence the query
Edgar Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Thanks, from what have read uses the same X-foam as the 4% but without the carbon insert. Reviews online are mixed, hence the query I haven't run in them myself. Several of my training partners have tried them. The feed back was, go with the Zoom Fly FK. Especially on longer runs. After Irene yesterday, which I ran in the Zoom's and training partner the Peg Turbo's. I'm running comrades in the Zoom's and he isn't running comrades in the Peg's. shaper 1

Mudsimus Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Why the Peg's over the Zoom's?I think I'll just be to slow on Comrades to justify it? And how comfortable is that plate over 90ks? That said I bought them the day before a marathon, ran a 15 min pb and put them back in the box. They were really comfortable, but I could feel my feet getting a little tired.
Lexx Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 I am getting serious Fomo here reading all the PBs here on the hub..

The plate was fine over 3h30 and standing around for about hour before that. Will test that further at E100 and Route Tester. Definitely did get tired feet, i know some of the reviews have mentioned this potential, even on slow paced hilly runs. You still get benefit from the plate at slower pace, although not as much as at quicker speeds.
