Stretch Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I'll answer for him. Yes.With a 37min 10km the other day..I would expect so
dave303e Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Jewbacca good luck at Mac Mac I think it is going to be a rough one but temps should be perfect this time of year, nice and cool. Route will always be spectacular. TurboMamba is also now racing the 100miler. That will be ±620km of running and 70odd km of mtb in the last month just in races, not including training between them Comrades guys good luck with this last few weeks wind down and prep, stay healthy, I started a 120km AR on the weekend sick and am prednisone and antibiotics now this week and feeling rather doff. Stay Healthy, good luck with the tapering. CobusV, Jewbacca, Andrew Steer and 1 other 4
Barry Stuart Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I'll answer for him. Yes. I guess that's decided then. ScottCM, Lexx and Andrew Steer 3
Odinson Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Quick question on pacing in races. Is it bad etiquette to latch onto another runner's heels for a whole race or is there no real concept such as doing your bit at the front?

Is it bad etiquette to latch onto another runner's heels for a whole race or is there no real concept such as doing your bit at the front? I think if the plan is to purposefully draft then maybe have a quick word with the runner and offer a turn on the front. Odinson 1

If you are a hot 20 something year old blond female be my guestIf you are male GTFO I would love to see an answer from one of our fast runners because at my pace there is no advantage to drafting at all. candz1 and Odinson 2
Stretch Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Quick question on pacing in races. Is it bad etiquette to latch onto another runner's heels for a whole race or is there no real concept such as doing your bit at the front?No.... It's very rare that you will have the same pace. What you may find is that you will run together during sections all through the race as you both have different moments of strength and weaknesses. The only time you may find yourself latching behind a runner for an extended period is if he or she has a nice backside Odinson 1

I've noticed significant decreases in my pace when approaching lady runners in toit running pants. Don't know what's up with that. Dadbod Racing 1

There was this chap who was on my heels for literally 80% of the run. At one point I stopped to take a leak and he passed. I caught back up to him and he latched on again. What's worse is he had the cheek to pass me about 5m before the finish. I feel so used... Andrew Steer 1

When running, any distraction helps in my books - if your mind is watching heels, or bums, or chatting away - you aren't focused on the pains inevitably creeping in somewhere...

Pulse Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 The benefit from drafting inly becomes significant above 18km/h, so in running its usually not a big deal.BUT the psychological benefit and pacing effect can be huge Andrew Steer and Odinson 2
