Would love to see a return of two-strokes to MotoGP with it's own category. Without traction control, ABS, etc. Must be up to the skill of the rider. Maybe then I'll start watching MotoGP again.

THE MotoGP QUESTION: Two-Strokes
We asked eight MotoGP riders if they would welcome a return to 500cc two-stroke engines for, say, 2017. The answers may surprise you.

"And now for the big question. Speak to Kevin Schwantz, Mick Doohan or even Vale and they will tell you the same thing. Even with half the capacity of the current four-stroke MotoGP machines, if you ran a two-stroke today with the benefit of latest electronics and plenty of fuel capacity then this would be the machine to beat."

That Rainey YZR is the bike that got me into bikes!!

I was 9 when he won the world champs on it, and all I wanted was a RZ125, my friends all had Yz80s etc, but he made me want a road bike :)

Those battles between Rainey and Schwantz were Epic - I know a lot of non biking folks who started watching bike racing because of those two !!

Now for some insane 2 stroke technology:

Suzuki`s world championship winning 125cc 1967 model.

125 cc 4 cylinder square 4 two stroke motor reving to 16500 rpm - what size were those pistons - madness, must have looked like little tot glasses.

12 speed gear box - top speed of 250 kph, not bad for a 2t in 1967.

Heard on Mix93.8 yesterday afternoon that Dave and Robbie Petersen are bringing in 3 of the Roberts KR3 500GP bikes for the legends of GP series - the bikes will be staying in SA too. That's going to be interesting to follow....
