A friend of mine is currently building a NSR250 MC28. He is toying with the idea of bringing in one of these kits:

I only had two 4 stroke bikes in all my years of motorcycle ownership. (Yam XS Eleven Special and Honda SS50)

Rest was 2 strokes, and only two not a Yammy. (Honda SS50 and MT50)

My ultimate bike, the RD500YPVS was just out of reach of my Policeman salary.

I read in one of my "classic motorcycles mechanics" magazines regarding a Yamaha TZR250 3XV race restore Project:

 

"As the powervalve shaft turns it raises the guilotine powervalve which controls the main exhaustport and it also turns two cylindrical powervalves which open the boost ports. All the powervalves operate progressively. The design is very good with no real worries of powervalve failure as on the more well-known and well documented dismally designed Aprilia RS250/RGV powervalves."
