saddle bag..... landing on a bomb or levers must be painful and can cause injury... why risk it...

nothing can possibly hurt more than handing in your man card, which you will have to do with a saddlebag

I've always used a saddle bag, but with DS frame design I had to get a second bottle on my bike. The dropper post meant that I no longer was able to use the seat post clamps for a 2nd bottle cage. I eventually found a workable solution. I reverted to a top tube bag for my spares, phone etc. i have a rather large one for stage races, and a smaller one for shorter rides. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByTapatalk1440075533.230415.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByTapatalk1440075547.987010.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByTapatalk1440075563.762060.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByTapatalk1440075577.986706.jpg

Do you not have a problem with the top tube bag slipping sideways?

No, not really. The later carbon designs all have oversized top tubes and the shape of the bags (tapering to the back) means that even if it slips a few degrees, its not really noticed.

Pockets are for food n stuff that you use while riding and don't want to stop to utilize.

Stuff you cannot use while riding, like Tools and spares belong in either a saddle bag, onboard storage thingy, water bottle thingy or the best option IMHO a camel pack camelback type of thingy.

The trick is not to pack to much into it....

in bottlecage

Tried this but the lid kept on popping off.  Had to use tape to hold it in place.  Lost some tools when the lid did pop.  These things are expensive for what they are worth.

Dangle bag for me, always - swap between bikes.

I've never had that issue. Maybe try and pack less stuff in there? I have 1 tube (road), 2 tyre levers, bomb and nozzle in there. Pump goes next to it in my pocket (meaning I won't fall on it) and my multi-tool is in the cradle thingy you get with your SWAT kit.

Mine would be totally soaked, so no top tube for me.

Have a saddle bag and with some of the comments madfhe here, will agreee not to get tempted to shange to pockets.

Just thinking about the use of that mukltitool I carry. To leave or not to leave?

Not so sure that I like the extra weight here, further back and centered is beter in my opininion but the dropper post does make things complicated.
