Some of the serious racing DC teams want the (team) training, but they usually don't mind if you tag along at the back, as long as you ask and don't interfere with their team dynamics. I understand that they don't want unknown and possibly dangerous riders in their team mix. They are also still working out how fast they can go for how far and who to keep and who to drop at what distance. Others mixing in, makes it more difficult.

Most of the social DC teams don't mind as long as you ask and you help pulling every now and then. Their aim is mostly to start and finish together as a team and their team spirit is great. I have found them a very friendly lot.

"Serious DC teams". Pffft.

Any team training together before the DC is against the rules and any such teams should receive a 30 minute time penalty!

Sometimes us fun riders take ourselves far too seriously.

Anyway - this isn't the DC, I can slip whoever I want. You want to train together, do it on your own time.

Velouria for PPA President.......

Heaven forbid! Then I'd actually have to talk to people in real life, and not rant online from the comfort of my keyboard.

This made me laugh. Our DC team last year, we were all strangers, majority of us meeting each other for the first time the night before the DC. Everyone was pretty quiet, made a little small talk and went to bed early. After smashing 200km together as a team, the next night at dinner was completely different vibe. Wine and war stories were flowing. Best event I've done so far.

I saw somewhere a list of which water points will have snacks, but for the life of me I   cannot find it now, neither can I actually find where the water points (km) will be

Anyone maybe have link, PPA not replied after a month

Ok, Official from PPA:

Water points are at 33 km, 68 km, 90 km, 107 km, 127 km, 150 km and 162 km.

Water points 3, 5 and 6 will offer food (bananas, chocolates, jelly babies, peanuts & raisins) in addition to water/Coke.

I am always tempted to do the DC, then I remember that I ride solo and have done TransKaroo four times. Then the temptation subsides.

Which stand to reason that you will probably find something like the DC much harder to handle because you can't just ride at your own pace and stuff the rest..

Probably, I find the One Tonner very hard so there is merit in what you say. But for me riding solo is what riding a bicycle or motorcycle is all about.

The hotshots are off at 06h30, about what time could I expect to start from H?

It would be best to try be there by 6, perhaps sooner if you need to pick up your race sticker. I am also in H.

Cool. I'll be the old-ballie on a white Cannondale. :)

maybe 5 mins gaps between each group, mmm 5 mins maybe to much?

If it's a couple minutes between groups us further down the alphabet ladder can sleep in a little longer...
