I missed Diamond last year by a measly 360 points.

Exhausted everything I could, 60k from fitness activities, the health check (cholesterol has always been >5) is an area to improve for 2023. I left it too late to see a registered Dietician, which would have pulled me over the line.

It certainly isn’t as easy as in the past, when I would finish the year on 120k points, but it is still achievable.

I was in exactly the same position - on 30th i had 99 500 (needed 100 000) found a dietician who does online consultations up to 8pm in the evening via google meets - worked perfectly ended up on 100 500 on 31st - Thank you GOOGLE

I also miscalculated the points the Mrs needed. The 2x 200 point workouts on 30th and 31st counted for mahala. Also, I see our Woolies points for healthy foods can be improved too. Was totally my fault for not hitting the goal...

Missing diamond by 360 pts is the same trauma as doing a 3:01 Argus 🤣

You lucky to be able to extract yourself - I have a life product that lapses if I drop vitality and the value seriously declines if i drop below Diamond - I have a life sentence handed down by my Med Aid 🤪

Exactly - a LIFE sentence - very appropriate.

Yeah I missed out by 3300, my wife only got active after June.

To be fair to vitality et al, getting fit and healthier does make a big difference, just wish it was easier to track.

I don't think you should be fair to Vitality, they don't deserve it 😆

Seriously though, the gist of this, many paged thread, is that Discovery really aims Vitality at the couch surfers and not at the active types, and is trying to be all things to all people.

I was on Vitality for about 7 years before switching to Multiply 2 years ago - could not be happier. Benefits of Vitality steadily declined, more hoops to jump through and being coerced into getting more Discovery products for the same level of benefit (Banking etc.). I also joined Vitality cycling club with the hope of benefitting from reduced race entries, but found they would only publish the race calendar a few weeks before the next month, which is never sufficient to plan and train. Maybe they fixed that now but I hence didn’t bother to renew.

Multiply shop also offers great discounts including at cycle lab and garmin devices. I have saved a ton at CL over the years.

Was on Multiply for 2 months - but it's damn difficult to get to the top tier.

But I really appreciated the simplicity and clarity of understanding the benefits of Multiply.

If you can figure out the entire Vitality system then you can basically do a PhD as well.

Scanning through some of this thread really cements my decision to quit Vitality and Discovery Bank (even that requires jumping through a bunch of hoops)

As has been mentioned, the rewards have steadily declined with more and more hoops added.

I feel a huge amount of relief walking away - is that weird?

I stay on the hamster wheel cause I'm a stingy bliksem that likes a challenge 😏

knowing you, you probably stopped just before the finish line and waited for the clock to tick just over 3:00 :)  before crossing it.

Not that year; back then time was important. Also had a slight babbalas after the Bokke beat England (2007 RWC) the night before.

I knew I had some close ones, just checked racetec now. 3:00 for the 2021 Tshwane classic.

The other are a couple of minutes over

My closest was the 2017 Emperors Classic at 3:00:02. Only started cycling properly in August 2016 so that was like my 3rd race and I was so bleak.

I know one year, think it was 2016, we cycled down to PMB, then did Amashova. I used Garmin’s pace partner to pace this group to the finish… 2:59:36

Played the role of domestique that year. Fetched 8 bottles of water at the Cato Ridge water point, as well as Inchanga (the photo). Most of this bunch sucked wheel all the way, with about 4-5 people helping with the pace. Was good fun.C0FB20A2-4ABA-46A0-96B4-181A407A07FC.jpeg.975bdf9fd2127fab06f63924d19faed5.jpeg52D7A98E-E78C-4526-953B-A0D7DB99E7D6.jpeg.4704d4b4d67620e38fe0ad7df129525e.jpeg

Anybody else having trouble syncing Zwift with Discovery the last few days? Tried delinking and relinking but nothing? Strava and Garmin still syncing properly.

Posted (edited)

None of my Zwift rides have ever made it through to Vitality. Have tried using all the “links”, i.e. linked, delinked, relinked, etc., and nothing works.
