When i look at the current old health app, its being completely dumbed down and everything is moving to the Bank app, very soon I believe it will be discontinued and if you not a banking client with the bank app you basically won't be able to access the vitality points benefit.

Its almost extortion, forcing their health clients to become banking clients.

The concept of Vitality nudging people to live healthy has LONG since been replaced by just another "rewards program".  And like all other industry rewards programs the goalposts shifts regularly to "encourage" clients to buy into the full package on offer ...... 😏

They introduced a free vitality banking account when they moved the travel benefits to the bank side after the airline collapse fiasco. So if you are a vitality member you can create an account for free in the app, and access the miles, discounts etc that way. Another hoop to jump through, but not using the account for anything else, and not costing me anything.

Wasn't aware of this

So did you just sign up on the banking app ?

It's very easy to do in the app on her phone. My wife had to do it too. It gives full access to the extra functionality. And then you can even transfer miles between each other (or to other discovery clients).

I opened a discovery bank account to access a travel benefit. On the phone I was told the R20 per month account gives you access to benefits and not the free account. I don't want to use the account for anything other than miles d day and travel discount. Is this correct or can I use the free account?

Gonna have to use fitfiletools.com. Download the original from Strava, upload to fitfiletools, change the device to a Garmin and upload to Garmin connect. Its a Schlep but works.

Currently using an Elemnt Roam

What irks me with Discovery though is that their method to link apps has been offline for the last 2 months, so I haven't been able to link my new smartwatch. Discovery just says they're aware of the problem and hasn't done anything in my opinion to solve it

Fitfiletools havent been working for me lately. I have a garmin watch so just wearing that as well.

Anybody else sit with this problem and have a solution.

Both my wife and me do the vitality activity thing to get the tier points to Diamond each year.

The wife is not a banking client, she had a secondary card linked to my card - so all her bonus points or miles simply accumulate and the only way we can use them is on free coffee vouchers, which will take 100 years to use them all.

How do we use all her points ?

I had a massive argument with them some months back, that as a secondary card user her miles should accumulate with my miles so we can use them together - they simply laughed at me.

Cancel the secondary card and save yourself the R50/month or whatever they charge, then add your primary card to her Apple/Google/Garmin Pay/Wallet.

We've been doing this for the last 2 years and works great.

I loaded my card on our watches and no issues

I finally checked my wife's app - she pays R10 'monthly account fee' and R10 'vitality money premium'. So it is R20 a month.

My wife converts her points into Dischem vouchers and very often we have a few R100 vouchers to spend, I am done with jumping through hoops, I am on Multiply through the work's Group life cover and get much better usable rewards.
