Terrible service from Linden Cycles

OP isn't being unreasonable. Based on his version, they made  commitment, which they seemingly took a giant, steaming dump on.

Obviously, we need Linden Cycle's version of events.

Mr Joubert, please post a photo of the receipt you received - especially if it contains a date stamp.

I 100% agree with you, I would be supremely pissed off.

It just so happens that this was posted on a Friday, you know what Fridays do to all of us...

I just experienced the exact opposite after deciding to try them for the first time after my previous LBS service experience left me feeling violated.

Dropped it off Tuesday morning this week with a clear list of what needed to be done.

Got phoned 5 minutes after leaving the shop; the front wheel bearings need to be replaced, which I sort of suspected and were impressed they found so quickly AND that they phoned to let me know before replacing and charging.

Went back the same day in the afternoon. Bike was still being washed but the mech came out to say hello and sorry that they are not yet 100% done. No worries; gave me some time to scratch through their messy store.

While looking through the shop no less than 3 guys asked me if I needed any help, even the owner (sorry I forgot her name...) said howzit and if I needed any help.

Overall a good experience for me and I'll probably go back...

There's some good positive shizniz for your ass (happy Iwan?).

OP: Sorry about your crappy ordeal(s).

We all turn into the Edward Norton version of the Hulk since none of us get to have Brad Pitt as an alter ego?

I think we need help. :whistling:

Some positive vibes - I snapped my dérailleur hanger the other day and phoned BMC to see if they had a replacement, which they didn't but ordered one for me which arrived the next day. So I went to pick it up and it was cheaper than they estimated and while I was waiting for payment to go through, I asked a mechanic there if he could look at some play in my headset, which he sorted out in a couple of minutes. I know where I'll be taking my bike next service.

I have used them for the last 28 years and have only found them to be professional and friendly. They would not have lasted if they were doing this regularly. I can only believe they dropped the ball this time. Sorry to hear this, as I know we all need or bikes on the weekend.

Give Janine Lourens a call tomorrow

I always phone to see if my bike is ready before I go there. No matter which shop it might be, here or in the UK.

Not sure if I should really have to or not, but it's easier than being disappointed and stuff happens, even at the best of shops,

What I do find strange with your story is that with Linden you normally have to book a service date, sometimes a week in advance. ( just like you book your car in for a service ). All the times I have been in their shop I have never seen someone walk in off the street and leave their bike there without having booked a service date 1 st.

I am in CT and bought a bike from someone in JHB. Jonathan from Linden arranged boxing of the bike same day without any issues. Recently I did some research on a Petini bike built by Duncan MacIntyre for Linden Cycles. Jonathan and their team was just to happy to supply some information on the bike.

28 years to not figure out her name is Jonene :)

They are a great bunch in general -especially when one has a relationship with them.

Moaning on thehub without making an attempt to sort it out face to face with her first is a bit off side.... jmho.

To the OP - did you chat to Jonene about this before bringing it to troll court?

Well I have a positive, they are often my "pls fix my mess" go to guys as was the case Wed morning. After failing to follow a good friends advice who is also a hubber ( he will laugh when he reads this) I decided to fit my awesome new aero bars which have internal cable routing. Anyways after taking many hours to route cabling through the bars and frame I realize I have snipped the the rear derailleur cable too short..... At 2:30 am and a 95% built bike I go to bed and decide to ask Linden to help in the AM.

I call linden and speak to Neville Snr, who says pls bring it in and we sort it out for you, I picked the bike up same day with new cabling on derailleurs and working perfectly. 3rd time they have got me out of a jam, they ROCK!

Needless to say, I have learnt my lesson, take bike to Linden and save loads of stress
