I fall under the "other" category now too. Got Mitas (formerly Rubena) Scylla 2.25 on the back and Kratos 2.45 on the front.

About 1000km on them now and couldn't be happier.

I have been running a 2.25 ardent LUST up front and an Ikon at the back.
The Ikon went bang the other day while sitting in the sun. The sidewall blew out much to the massive shock of everyone sitting at the cafe.

So, off to the bike shop I go to look for another ardent as that was what I was planning on replacing it with.

I ended up getting the 2.4 ardent race so I swapped the 2.25 to the back wheel and fitted the 2.4 up front.

All I can say is WOW. It has made such a big improvement to my riding in the single track. These tyres inspire so much confidence. I was left with a huge grin on my face after the last few mornings out in the Karkloof!

Vittoria front and rear, staying with Vittoria.

On the same page, I have only had good experiences with them. My only concern is that my new rims require a minimum tire width of 2.35" and it seems that Vittoria do not make any for normal marathon/XC application.

despite a side-wall cut ending my 36One effort, I'll stick to continental

X King front

Race King rear

Ok, so you obviously love the conties then Fanie :) ?

not anymore.

had another raceking "protection" fail on me with a sidewall tear. this time resulting in a bent rim and a long walk. not willing to spend a grand on another tire which will probably fail again.

now running Vittoria saguaro at the back with a X king up front (have a Barzo on standby)

Bit heavy but bom proof

slightly off topic but here goes:

everyone running Saguaro's:  Any problems getting them onto Crest wheels?  I've run them before but really battled fitting them onto the Crest's.  Just wondering if this is still the case.

They are bomb proof, but if I ever get caught out in the middle of nowhere there is no way I'll ever get the tyre off (and back on) with normal tyre levers.
