Or... get it for tons cheaper from AliExpress.

MTB Mountian Bike Bicycle Parts Freewheel Cassette 11s 11 Speed 11-50t Wide Ratio for Shimano m7000 m8000 m9000 SUNRACE

(from AliExpress Android)

Except that that isn't a sunrace. And going by the longevity of the original Sunrace cassettes - and that it's 600g vs the Sunrace's 500 or so - I wouldn't buy that one.

Plus there's the lead time...

I doubt the kind of rider that needs a 50t is going to notice 100g.

Lead time can be a bother, but if you aren't in a hurry its fine. I got 5 parcels somewhere between China and my front door.

FWIW I'd like a 50t so I can go to a 36 up front. And truth be told I don't pay much heed to componentry weight, but with a 20% increase in weight and not much of a saving, it'd be silly to write it off as "okay" when the slightly more expensive option is better proven and looks better as well. And is immediately available.

Truth be told, although I stated otherwise....50t does make sense. I mean, now you can run a 36 or 38t oval and still be able to climb anything....

Just goes to show what happens when a person thinks further than their nose...

That is why after much to and fro on 1 x 11 gearing I settled on the ethirteen 46x9 (needs SRAM X0 Freebody though)  back cluster as you can run small climbing gears for the steep stuff and still have some decent speed on the downhills.

That cassette is moer expensive though.

If I could fit an XD Drive to my Loaded Hubs, I would fit the e Thirteen TRSr cassette without thinking twice about it. Unfortunately such a fitment on my wheels are not possible (or so I have been told)

I'm running the Sunrace 11-50T with Absoluteblack 36 oval or 36 Round chainring. More than enough gearing. Able to fly on the flats and ease up the hills. I cant understand why guys with eagle run a 34 tooth chainring

Hi.

I have the XT M8000 1x11 and its awesome! I have a 34T Oval in front and Sram GX 10-42 casette at the back. This setup really works well. But I am looking to upgrade to SRAMs new GX 1x12. I think the upgrade kit including the crank will cost you around R8k. This is next level and super affordable!!! The casette range is 10-50 so you can easily go for a 36 chainring. This should work for any type of riding!!!!

All this talk of going 50 at the back so you can increase the front ring and crank the downhills is making me questioning my legs! I've just been going bigger at the back so I can get up stuff and not be completely shelled when I get to the start of the downs.

Lol

Sunshine.... If you mash up Shimano and Sunrace you could come up with Sunshine

IMHO, if you need to crank the downhills, then they're not steep enough. At least that's what got ME into mountain biking!!
