Event Name: Nissan Trailseeker WC #1 BOSCHENDAL
When: 7 May 2016
Where: Boschendal Estate, Pniel Road, Groot Drakenstein, Franschhoe, Western Cape
Category: MTB

We are glad to announce the first event in a new series of four events in the Western Cape, that will make up the official Western Cape Marathon Mountain bike series for 2016. The series is targeted at the young, the novice and the family but also for the experienced rider. The routes are aimed to be fun and friendly, no technical and specialised bits that only the pro's can ride. The series caters for those looking to get into mountain biking as a sport, the weekend riders and the family conscious. But with great TV coverage, good prize money with provincial points up for grabs, the serious riders are drawn in to compete into a festival of mountain biking.

The trails have been laid out over the past two to three years and features dual track, gravel roads and short sections of single track that anyone can enjoy!

Come and share a this great new experience in a new area. We'll bring great meals and snacks, while you share the battle scars and war stories with your mountain bike buddies.

Fyi this route will go over some of the trails used in yesterday's Stage 6 of the cape Epic, if in doubt go check the video footage

On YouTube or watch the highlights on SS epaecially from Sahms 360 degree camera, the trails will blow you away. Also some of the trails is not normally open to the public but it is Hand built & manicured.

Wessel & Advendurance if you guys pull this off without a hiccup, I'll forgive you for all the other previous blunders.

A snippet from the route description from their website, link provided above.

"Bartinney Skyfall, with an awesome 2.5km of winding single track downhill delight with about 20 berms to negotiate. These exclusive paths are normally off limits to the public. The terrain is made up of mountainous roads, steep climbs and spectacular scenery."

On the same day as the Tru-Cape MTB race in Grabouw. What a fail  :cursing:

60km apart. So do we choose A-Z trails in an established annual race, or Bartinney Skyfall in a series which has had a few hiccups, but is otherwise pretty good value for money ...

I have a mate who just completed the Epic. He reckons after the Garden Route Trail Park, which he rates as one of top trails he has ever ridden in SA, Skyfall sits at a very close second.

Having ridden GRTP yesterday I agree with his assessment re that piece of heaven. It is literally 26km give or take of mind blowing ST through natural forest etc. including some insane bermed sections, table tops sprinkled gingerly across the landscape and some insane sections were you just send it. Think UnReal and Branden Semenuk  (I won't bore you with all the details - go ride it)

So, what's my point? I was intending to give the whole Trailseeker a skip this year, but since my mate told me of GRTP and I rode it, I soooo want to try Skyfall, and according to some other posts in this forum, it seems closed to the general public, which is a shame.

I'm more along the lines of, Helderberg was a Great cock up, but they tried there best to make up for it with free entrance to the next event. By the time they got to Grabouw, there was a great improvement. As you hope with most company's, They listen to your gripes, and set about making more of an enjoyable experience in 2016,

if your intrested in a different event i fully understand, but for me, I'm going to see if they have gone forward because it has massive potential to be a great series

See thats my whole gripe with the helderberg event, they only gave free entries to the 70km guys and not us that was supposed todo 40km and ended up with half of that. They never even admitted that there was a cockup on the other routes.

Karl, Ive riden Skyfall a few times, and some of the most stunning parts of Stellies. The Origin of Trails (2 day event) and the one coming up Liberty Winelands Encounter (3 day event) stunning riding
