29er Dual Suspension Bike weights

Recommended Posts

Why is it that people feel they can tell you what is important or not, yes I ride my bike, yes I don't care bout the weight when having fun on it,

But don't question my right to have the question and ask it, if you don't like it, don't read the thread.

G

Totally agree with you. I see it as a little (addictive) hobby ????,..and WHY NOT??!!

I have an 8,84kg Rocky Mountain hard tail,..and still going lighter,.....and,...WHY NOT?!!!

Don't worry about what your bike weighs or what someone else's bike weighs. Weight is a function of gravity and there is nothing that you can do about it. Just ride your bike. If your bike weighs less than 13kg you are onto a winner.

I suggest you weigh your bike with tools, full water bottles, the food you will carry on the ride etc... numbers are pointless....

Not really, you would carry your water bottles and tools regardless of the bike. The variable in the equation is the bike. (And the rider) - different thread.

As cycling comes down to w/kg the lighter the bike the easier or faster it gets.

I think its a valid thread to see what the standard weight of bikes are as its very difficult to get that off the net, as a lot of manufacturers don't provide it.

Ride ready she is at 11.82kg

Stripped down, no pedals, nice extra chain guide and bottle cage she is 11.19kg

Actually a bit more than I expected as the only major metal parts are the seat post and stem.

Just for Lekker would not have minded to have her under 11kg, but that's a hard 200g to drop.

Go on then awesome, how much does the stage weigh?

Full suspension bikes are lighter than hardtails. This is all due to the air shock at the rear and we all know that air is very light.

The shock has compressed air so its got a bunch of extra light in it...

You can also put extra air in the tyres to lighten up rolling weight.

That is a brilliant idea, maybe that is why my bike feels heavy, been running low pressure in the tyres!

Well in comparison to a 27.5 AM rig...

Giant Trance Adv 27.5

RS PIKE

PS Monarch Plus

RS Reverb Dropper

Full XTR with 1x10 (Wolftooth CR and Rapide expander)

Giant P-TRX1 wheels (with Scwhalbe Hans Dampf front and Nobby Nic rear)

Hope Rotors

Look Pedals

Dartmoor Stem and Spank Oozy vibracore bar.

Selle Italia SLS Max saddle

Titanium and KCNC Ally bolts everywhere

12kg flat ready to rock

12.6kg with 25mm Giant P-AM rims and WTB Vigalante and Trailboss tyres

So yes a sub 11kg Anthem 29er even in Ally is quite possible - I would guarantee it. If you do a full money no object weight weenied carbon anthem I would think that a Sub 10kg is also possible. It wont be bullet proof but it is very possible.
