I actually read everything here on the weekend while waiting for my nails to dry and had a good chuckle . I went back to flats about 6 years ago and was on the Gaint's for 4 years . Still got them on the other SS . But last year I decided to get something "fancy" for the RASA race and got the Nukeproof goodies . A lot lighter than the old ones but absolutely made no difference to how I ride neither could I feel a difference . I also thought it had to may pins anyway and removed most of them  . Nothing changed when riding .

Then there is the shoe marketing thing . Like most people going over to flats I started with my orange tekkies (cause they match the bike ) and after 4 years got told that getting some "proper" shoes would make thing a lot nicer . So got a set of those fancy shoes that cost more than a case of Rum . It did make a difference , walking wasn't pleasant anymore . So I donated them to another sucker and went back to my tekkies . I did RASA with a pair of Hi-Tech boots , awesome , but not really a fashion statement  :whistling:  .

What am I doing wrong ?

Yah, got it off. Struggled for over 2 hours last night ( granted with the wrong tools) went around begging from family for a spanner today. I still don't have the physical strength though - OH and a mallet got it.

Took a quick spin around the parking lot - I love them. Feels great, light, grippy and I like the bigger surface area.

Thanks all for the recommendations, tips :)

Now to get you a decent pedal wrench! Hahaha!

Can you believe I ended up getting one from Smillie of all ppl.

Yeah, need to revise my tools for bike DIY, and some arm strength workouts at the gym.

My son says I have arms like a squaw these days and I often have to ask him for help when loosening things  :cursing:

It's the same frustration I have with changing a car tyre, I know how to do all that, but loosening those wheel nuts - not a chance. :(

Posting this on all the flat pedal threads:

DueSouth have a 25% off all Adidas stuff TODAY ONLY

Use promo code DSDEAL (you must type the letters uppercase)

Adidas Men's Terrex Trail Cross SL R1599 less R399(25%) R1200

Enjoy!!

Just FYI I found the Trail Cross SL to be true to size length wise and with nice wide toe box(wider than Adidas shoes typically are), they were a slight touch too narrow for the first week and now they have worn in they are perfect. I have wide feet, I often find myself not being able to choose a shoe just due to them being too narrow so these are pretty roomy in the toe box.
