It’s finally official: JEFFSY is the brand new Trail Bike by YT Industries. A 29er with 140 mm of travel and of course, packed with a whole lot of gravity potential. For weeks YT was providing one key message to mountain bike magazines and social media channels: #IHATEJEFFSY. Various rumors were floating and even women’s right activists furiously called YT to find out more about JEFFSY.

It would be interesting to take this video and go back in time a few short years and re-open the debates about the capabilities of 29'ers.

That would make for great Friday entertainment.

The thing is, 29ers of that era weren't as capable as the 650's and 6ers of the era. It's only recently (and previously with the Spa Enduro) that they've become better as bike companies have started being less conservative with geometry.

Boost also helps with this due to the extra stiffness int eh wheel builds, and better tyres as well. But yes, niners can now be made into good trail bikes.

Indeed!

'While the wheel size may divide opinion and continue to be shrouded in negativity – we’ve all heard the naysayers grumble, “29ers aren’t as much fun” and “You can’t corner a 29er as well as a 650b wheeled bike” – it still has its believers and for good reason. Get those big wheels packaged in the right frame with decent geometry and 29ers can be seriously impressive performers.'
