Since what date was it legalized? Eish... they should have a re look on that decision!

Specialised was one of the big Companies that had a meeting with UCI to push for this.

Not sure the UCI will just reverse the decision and look like fools.

Pro's ride what they are told to ride and sure there will be more teams on disc by July.

The public will buy what the pro's ride in TdF.

Good point, they'll more than likely eventually introduce a safety device for it and it will become the norm but until then safety will be compromised.

Yoh, that looks nasty!

Covers, anyone ask for disc covers?? Seems like the sensible thing to do if they're gonna let discs stay! Some super sexy carbon ones!

Disc brakes on a road bike is a stupid idea anyway

Ridden one? I have, offers far more modulation and control especially in the wet and on descents. Where have some of the worst crashes occurred, on descents, so actually it can be argued that discs will prevent a lot of crashes.

At most a cover/guide might be needed, it wasn't all that long ago that the same arguments were applied to mountain bikes in the beggining.

All this melodrama over what's essentially a freak occurance, by the same logic ban chainrings before there's a decapitation then.

XCO racing has had no mayhem with discs and they've been using discs for around a decade now. Plenty close proximity racing and crashes there, especially the starts.

I have ridden a few bikes with discs in the last while and one thing that scared me was braking on very steep descents.Touch the front break to hard and the back wheel lifted.

Would be interesting to see what type of cover is used so that it doesn't effect the cooling of the callipers.

FFS. Speed kills. Brakes thrills.

Embrace it. It WILL happen. Even Spez have put their money into it. It's too late now

One exposed chain ring per bike

Two discs per bike

Double the chance

Chain ring is in the centre and more or less shielded by the crank and pedal, its less likely to penetrate a rider from the sharp ends.

Discs are on the outer periphery more chance of penetrating a rider

XCO and road pelotons, 2 very different scenarios cant compare

A cover will work but not going to be popular from an aesthetic perspective.

Discs on road bikes are an excellent solution in theory, but injury and traction (loss of control when panic braking) are an issue.
