Hi Swiss..... No the Polar won't work with the PowerSync / PowerBeam BLE. controlling a trainer via a BLE devise other than a smart device is a problem at this point in time.....

RE Trade-In.... just you hold tight.... we have something up our sleeves.... but just wish we could get stock of the things..... putting MASSIVE pressure on the USA for stock but might be a little way off.....

If im not mistaken you can use the powerbeam ble as a power meter for the polar though. The watch cant control it but can use it as a power source.

the power data that one would get would be bad data as the Polar does not have the ability to do a roll down test with the PowerSync.....

Also due to the nature of BLE having 1 master and 1 controller once you sync the BLE PowerSync to your polar you will not be able to find the PowerSync on your smart device as it has been taken "off the network" when you paired it to the Polar.

This is the biggest difference between ANT+, with ANT+ you can have multiple devices sync'ed to 1 power meter this is not that case with polar.

I have just started using the Favero BePro pedals. I got the left side only but I can upgrade to two later if I want. They were less than half the cost of Garmin or powertap pedals. They had good reviews from DC Rainmaker and so far the readings I am getting are very similar to my power beam IDT. I got mine brought over from Europe but I have seen there is an SA agent.

Precision shipping in July at a very competitive price http://4iiii.com/product/precision/

No longer need to ship your crank off the get fitted.  Wonder how stages prices will be around July and whether will come down in price

Well the ZAR needs to recover "again" for this to be competitive. @ $500 for the Ultegra PM, + shipping this is not a whole lot cheaper than stages.

Is there an SA agent for this or would the product need to go back to the states for any repair work ?

$600 for ride ready da9000

$400 for factory install on da 9000

Stages is $100 more for ride ready crank arm.

Price will likely drop by $50

In my case I already have one... Speed sensor

Hi guy's,

We are the appointed distributor for the PowerPod in SA. We should have stock of the PowerPod's in the next 4 weeks. We've been testing the unit over the last 6 months to see for ourselves how it holds up, both on road and offroad - which we will publish results of as well.

In short, very reliable and consistent against other powermeters, and a huge amount of data available post ride for the data junkies through the Isaac software platform. As geraldm24 pointed out, some very nice unique features currently, as well as planned. Should be well enough priced to offer an entry into measuring power as well as a viable option for that second and third bicycle you may have.

What would the retail price of these units be in S.A

I am very interested in a unit for MTB. Would appreciate if you could publish correlation data ASAP

Thanks, I just have a question about the powerpod.

I understand that it measures inclination and the wind speed amongst others. How does it account for changes in rolling resistance when you transition from smooth roads to rough roads for example?

Maybe they do a calibration when you are not pedalling or something but I'm hoping maybe you can tell me.

It will be interesting to see. The power required to pedal on hard smooth roads is hugely different to maintaining that same speed on wet clay or loose rocks and I can't think how they are measuring that component of the opposing force.

Stages wont need to, their service is far superior to anything locally and their product is unreal. Value for money you honestly wont find a better, lighter and reliable unit in terms of power and back up.
