Depends on the bike (ie the frame), the current fork, tyre size etc etc etc.

wait....how's the wheel supposed to hit the crown, when the crown is attached to the center of the wheel?  It's always the same distance away, regardless of the compression.

I was sort of curious.  The bike is obviously going to function better as a 26er, the way it was designed, and maybe I'm just unnecessarily paranoid about seeing fewer and fewer 26" wheels on the market.  Just don't want a good ride rendered obsolete in the next couple of years

You're thinking of the cross brace, not the crown. Crown is the bit that is just below the steerer tube and is the bit the stanchions fit in to. The bit that has the compression adjuster controls on it.

As for 26 wheels becoming obsolete, stop looking at your bike shop and start looking online at CRC, wiggle, jensonusa, bike-discount and bike-components

Hi i have converted a 26 to 27.5...it was a santa cruz blur trc...the problem is the clearance with the tyres and you are restricted to width of them. The problem that i find is that my rear suspension is a little compromised, as i cannot allow for compression, as the back wheel then strikes the frame ( but this is only if i take bigger jumps). I must add that i weigh 102 kgs so just keep that in mind. Otherwise i have no problems. The front,i have no problem as i have 27.5 fork.

I did alot of research on interweb before doing it, there is a lot of info that can tell you about a particular brand and how well it converts.

What Myles said. I import my wheels from CRC.

Converted my Camber a few years back. No problems with clearance up front,  very tight at the back. Riding in mud became a nightmare. ..

Has anyone successfully run 27.5 inch wheels on a 26er?  Specifically dual sus.  Asking for.......a friend.

No, seriously, I'm asking for a Merida One Twenty.

Just put some 2.4 tyres on and you'll basically have the same thing  :whistling:

Also converted my Epic some time ago with the same issues. Loved that bike but I wouldn't do it if it was my only bike unless I was 'mud averse' and only rode in the dry
