Any particular reason you wouldn't?

Seems widely used on various youtube channels. Gets the result needed......

Maybe because you can't restrict the lateral of the movement of the block when cutting dado's, and your fingers will be too close to the blade.

Speaking of Youtube Channels, which channels are you subscribed to?

I only have Woodwhisperer and Woodworking for Mortals.

He's really talented, but don't you find him a bit (plenty) arrogant sometimes?

Very. I try to ignore that part of his persona.

Most of my learning is from Paul Sellers, but the subscription of 15 quid is starting to hurt each month.

how wide is that door?

Hairy, I'm not sure, but he has been in a wheelchair for a good 30+ years and is using not the normal standard ones. The door (stable door) by the new bathroom we are building will be leading out on a ramp.

yebo, must check sans reg's, but I recall a 1.1m clear opening being the norm...iron mong. and sanware should also be specific for a wheelchair user

All the stuff that's going inside was bought/manufactured by himself and he draw up the plans.

Short block - not on a wide base - you can't keep it securely in place.

Fingers very close to a very large blade - if that blade hooks that block your hand will be pulled into that blade.

It's not just going to take one finger.

That machine was not made for that job.

In fact cutting dado's on a cut-off saw is not a safe operation either.

Use a table saw with a sleigh.

There are plenty of things on YouTube I would never DO !!

I'm not sure his questionable method invalidates the ability to do the job on a cut-off saw. Most good tool users find multiple uses for their equipment, and that vid is case in point for the purpose.

I would have done it on a longer piece of timber and/or use some sort of clamping. would take alot longer though.

More importantly the scrap needs to be properly secured and at least the length of the backstop / fence.

And yes, it does take a while but the concept is the same as making a single cut with the mitre.

I like to make stuff

Jay's Custom Creations

Matthias Wandel - the earlier stuff on his channel

Absolute best youtube channel ever = Tips from a Shipwright

Add Marius Hornberger, Rob Cosman, Jeremy Schmidt and if you can handle his annoying voice wortheffort is good too.

If you like Matthias then John Heisz also has some very clever stuff.

I think Samurai is just a ridiculously sarcastic guy. He does have some serious hand tool skills but I cant watch too many of his vids before I have had enough.
