forgive my noobness,

whats the difference between Steilte and Helderberg? i assumed they same place?

Ja. Same place. Jan's farm is called Steilte. And I prefer the word coz it's Afrikaans for Steepness.

I'm always crytical of the way trail builders build berms in SA.

  • They tighten up on themselves
  • they are too small
  • UPHILL berms???

None of these things are an issue at Steilte.

The WP gravity enduro this weekend will have plenty tech. I can't even BEGIN to tell you how good Steilte is right now.

Yeah, Helderberg is a gem.

I didn't create the FB page and  I'm not sure about the message about 'befriending the right people' . I didn't get that message so I must be on the outside ;)

The page doesn't say that at all on it as far as I can see.If you took offense to that, then so be it.

At the end of the day we just want to ride our bikes and have fun so I'm not going to comment further except to say that I don't want to spend anymore time discussing this rather silly topic of how to invite people to an adventure. You can't please everyone all of the time...

Dan, the FB Post is on the front page of this thread - page 1, easy to see. I didn't make it up. Are you saying you didn't even read it? There is no FB page access unless you are on the inside anyway, so you clearly are!

I suppose you can choose to see it as silly or childish but the fact that you can't even acknowledge that message put out there was a bit off is a strange. The fact that i felt alienated by the response I got is not unique. I can't believe that was the intention.

Anyway, I hope the event goes well and fun is had by all, whenever it is :-)

Over and out!

No, just that the incentive is not to race balls to the wall on the tricky descents when you spend far more time climbing....

Nee, not true.

Well, maybe not at the back end of the vets cat, but the young ones overtake each other where ever they can. I have school boys coming to me for technical riding lessons. Not uphill riding get lessons though, they do that at the Rev limiter anyway.

So if I plan a party, a lekker party at a lekker place, with lekker people, and I know my friends have lekker friends, so I tell them to invite the lekker friends. But not the whole world, it's not an open house, just a lekker party.

Now there is a guy, the quiet guy that people know, but they don't know that the quiet guy is lekker, because the lekker people are too busy being lekker with their friends.

May we not chat about it this party for fear of offending someone that hasn't been invited? And heaven forbid that we post pictures on social media afterwards or a photographer publishes photos of this lekker party in the huisgenoot.

What is the moral of the story?

Don't be a box, be lekker.

And if the cool kids are clickey, there is always a way into the binnekring.

If Martin, Heinrich & Christiaan took that long and they DIDN'T have a technical...

They had serious technicals on SS4, which turned into a picnic.
