My form isn't quite where it should be. But I look forward for my first one. My skills is a bit up to crap but I will take the days from now to work on that.

looking at google there is a route option which may be a possibility. When you cross the river at the clover truck you turn left on the district road from there the new route could possibly head straight over cutting out the Nandos climb and push of a climb. its about 3km as suggested... only time will tell

So I was offered a spot by a friend that cannot make it anymore about 2 weeks ago. I obviously took it. I have been focusing on running the past 3 months with two or so road cycles every week. So needless to say I am worried that this is going to be a sufferfest of note. I spent last weekend in Lesotho. Much to advanced for my technical skills, but I managed most the climbs reasonably well.

I am fit, but clearly under trained in terms kms and MTB skills. How difficult is it going to be to get through the 3 days?

Pity about Push of a Climb... remember hitting very steep part and everyone I could see was walking. Halfway up heard gentle "on you're right" from behind and past comes this oke on a frikkin ss...

It isn't that bad if you generally fit then you will be fine just enjoy the ride and don't try be a hero. No need for technical skills, they sweep the route every morning so no need to worry about that.

As per my previous post "take it easy on Day 1, get through Day 2 have a JOL day 3"

If you overlay the old Sani2C route against the Joburg2C 2017 route you get this the following, top if image is where the routes split with the new route being the one on the right looking at the pic. Then they rejoin in the Gums on the main district road at the bottom of the pic.

(ignore the straight line through the middle).

Not sure about the dimensions of that climb that's a 13% average gradient and if Mamba Switchbacks (350m over 3,5 km) is anything to go by the back markers are going to add an extra hour to their day. I think Farmer Glenn is spreading some fake news to get everyone training!

13% is a bit rough hey...

Just to put in context; for those that train on Breedtsnek - and this weekend again we saw plenty S2C folk sweating it out there - back of Breedts i.e. Strava segment "Shack to Top of Breedts" is 6.8% average gradient (354m over 5.2km).

I love a challenge but fook me, I hope this "new climb" is a rumour or that the numbers are wrong.

Reason I won't do Sani, or any stage race, again.
