I didn't go this year... Last year was highly anticipated because they actively built it up with posts all across social media.

It seems they didn't bother this year. On Twitter for example, their last tweet before this year was 17 November 2015, the next tweet was regarding the fair was September 22nd. Between then and now only 16 tweets. The account has 922 tweets in total so it's fair to say there was less effort this time around and it shows.

Well that was the biggest waste of cash I have paid in a while. 1 Gazebo with a few stalls in it, so essentially 1/3 of what was on show last year. The only upside for the retailers that were there is that they would have had a lot of foot traffic to see their products. Overall it was a serious letdown. Imagine if they held this at Kylami and let you ride the road bikes around the track, and the mtb on a course on the outside.... so so much potential, but alas I fear this may be the end of this show :-(

Great Idea!!! A place to really ride bikes and experience things! The venue is nice and central and right by the Spruit so a bridge or something over William Nicol could open that to risky test rides. 100% 2016 was a balls up and hopefully changes are made for next year. I'm sure they know and changes need to be made to see a decent turn out in 2017.

We know what we want. If ideas like that are brought up here hopefully they will take notice and it will be a success.

phew! that was seriously a waste of time.

when the organisers realised there were only 2 exhibitors... why did they not call it off?

best exhibitor was "Bean There" coffee....

I was looking forward to it and pre-bought 2 weekend tickets... Could go as the weekend got too busy, but it looks like I am one of the fortunate ones who only waisted R100 and did waiste any time!

We had planned to go today but after reading the comments from Friday and yesterday, we decided not to drive out that side. And by the sounds of it we missed bugger all

The last i went to was out by the cradle and was well worth the time.
So what's happened ? The suppliers of everything bike related make to much money from us anyway so they don't fell the need to bother ??
What's the deal?

Yeah, the Nyrox event was great. Pump track, demo bikes, stax of suppliers, best bike in Africa desplay thing. The list goes on.

The blame should fall on Standard Bank. They failed to secure the brands that SHOULD have been there. They also did NO marketing and zip advertising. Give it to a company like Momentum who would market it properly and due to its location this event should by all rights be a huge success.

Standard Bank are just useless at most of what they try do

What a load of crap this fair was, R75 to see hardly anything...

The food tent had more to show than the main tent.

One beer tap.

No major stores like Solomons in the past 2 years.

Whoever organised this cocked it up properly, they basically made this the very last cycle fair that we will see in SA.

1st year was decent, a bloody good start. Last year was great and the kind of momentum that something like this needs to carry and build on.

Im sure there was more action at Wits and TUT on the weekend.

AFRICA CYCLE FAIR 2016 = EPIC FAIL

Did they actually organise the event, or were they just the company that got a bad sponsorship deal by backing a not so good event organiser?

As far as i know Standard Bank just put up the money and leave it to and Events Management Company to do the marketing, management, etc.
