No need to replace the "seals" or rather O-rings yet. 

 

Just take the lowers of and redo the foam rings (wash them with turps) and oil them up with 5w oil

If the O-rings is cut, take it to any O-rings shop and get a new one for R2 and put it in. Done

Does the upper viscosity of the oil matter? Or is any oil with a lower of 5w fine? (Asking because I have some 5w40, maybe its 10w40 left from motorbike)

 

Also, I've tried getting o-rings for the motorbike before and the local shops couldn't help me at all - Builders, Adendorff, an o-ring specialist in spring (wtf) and some smaller hardware stores along jan smuts, nothing. Do you know of an online shop I could find some?

With the 40% sag I would replace the air side seals as well.  The wiper kit alone is about R300 - wipers and foam rings - and the full kit from RS around R650.  You can get the o'ring seals and crush washers (not RS) for about R160 making the cheapest solution around R460 plus oil.  Right now Cape Cycles do not have stock of the 32 mm wipers.

Is there a site to buy directly from Rockshox? When I type Rockshox South Africa into google, I just get lbs results. Or should I visit a shop like Cycle Lab or Cycle Hub and ask for a kit to be ordered in person?

 

Regarding the 28/30/32mm, can I determine this simply by measuring the stanchions with a caliper rule?

WRT to crush wsahers, I reuse mine for like 3 services. No need to get new one there is no pressure there, they just seal of that 5ml 5w oil that you put in the lowers before replacing them

Perfect - it is a 2008 model like stated so going to try it, just to match the o rings now.

Here goes! Thought I would revive this thread once again! :D 

Decided its time to learn how to do these things myself and have done quite a bit of research but.....

Rear Fox float shock seems straight forward enough! Now onto the service of the front Fox 32.

I need to know which/how much oil and where to put back into the fork. Its a Fox 32 Factory Kashima - Now I dont know if it is a FIT4 or a FIT iRD. The sticker on the shock only read FIT. I have looked for a serial number and found a sticker saying CWN7 and serial number is 553472-0002-W I have looked on the Fox website but this still hasnt given me a clear indication other than it is a 2016 fork as follows 

Serial number: 553472-0002-W
Part number: 910-01-842
Short ID: CWN7
Description: 2016, 32, K, FLOAT, 29in, F-S, 100, iRD, FIT, Blk, Orange Logo, 15QR, 1.5 T, 44mm Rake, AMfollows 

But mine doesnt seem to fall in that category as its a 120mm and not a 100mm but maybe Im expecting a bit much? 

The oil chart I see is from which I deduce:

Oil type is 20wt

Air-Side - 25cc Option 1 below

Air Chamber 3cc Option 3

Damper Side 20cc Option 7 - I have presumed I have the iRD here

Would really be great if one of the experts out there can confirm this. Thanks in advance!

A few points here. 

 

1 - IRD is an electronic lockout, you'd know if you had it. It would be paired with an electronic lockout on the shock, and would have a bar mounted remote, some annoying cables, and a battery you'd have to charge every few weeks. On the compression adjuster on top of the damper leg it should tell you which damper you have.

 

2 - Air sleeve and lowers services are easy enough, damper services are not. If you're looking to do 50 hour services, you've found the right info. When it gets to the 150 hour services you're going to need some tooling. Instructions here, and assuming the fork is a FIT4, here and here.

 

If you're having issues identifying it, post a photo of the compression adjuster and I'll tell you what you've got.

FIT4 with lsc adjust. As per the links in my last post. 

 

15cc in the damper leg, 25cc in the spring leg.

I also do it myself.  I drive to Cogent, drop it of a pick it up later myself .... :) .

The cost is not an arm & leg, they are the experts after all ...

But if you are brave, go for it, why not.  I also do as much as I can myself but with shocks & forks I draw the line.

Where are they located? Need to service my Fox fork and shock.

(and i will drop and pick-up myself)
