RAVE: Cycle Teknix Kenilworth

Two weeks ago a purchased a service groupon for 2 bikes at Cycle teknix in Kenilworth. With it being a groupon I had my reservations as to what the service would be like.

 

I had the pleasure of communicating with Graham to book the service. This is probably the best communication I have received from a bike shop in Cape Town. Bikes were dropped by a friend of mine last tuesday and ready for collection on Wednesday. Bikes came back looking brand new and were running perfectly.

 

So whilst riding in CAT 3 at the WP League road race, a gentleman in Cycle Teknix Kit asks, "are you Winston". With a quizzical look I said yes and he replied stating that he recognised my bike and that it was in there for a service.

 

The customer centricity of Graham is exceptional and it is evident that he has his customers interest at heart.

 

I will definitely be using Cycle Teknix in Kenilworth alot more and I highly recommend them after my positive experience.

Tough environment that they are operating in with 3 other stores in the same block.

Customer service is vital to survival.!

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I need to rave about this LBS.

 

I went in today with my bike because I have been having a few issues. I was told that I could join everyone in the workshop while they worked on my bike. After they asked a few questions to help diagnose the problem, we all chatted together while the work was being done- I even learnt a few things in the process! Any questions I had were answered, and I got plenty of advice (for a n00B, it is greatly appreciated!) and feedback. Everyone was friendly and didn't look down on me because I was new to cycling (this has happened at other places). The prices were decent and I wasn't forced to buy parts that I didn't need. They always gave me options about parts, and gave their honest opinion about my decisions. At one stage, we were wondering if it was worth upgrading to a new bike (which could've been an easy sale for them), but they advised against it for now and gave me some advice. They also worked very hard to work within my (tiny) budget without me feeling like I was cheap.  After everything, they invited me to join them for their Saturday ride :thumbup:

 

All in all, I feel that this place is a gem. Honest, hard working, and friendly people. I have never felt more at ease in a cycling shop. They will definitely be getting repeat business from me. And they will be the first place I go to for n +1 / s - 1

These guys are amazing and are fast becoming my favorite LBS - there mechanic is such a nice guy and let  me stand in the workshop with him so I could show him exactly what the problem was.

 

He was able to fix something on a 15 year old Santa Cruz Heckler that Woodstock cycle works told me was not possible.

 

Well worth supporting the little guys, they go beyond the extra 100 miles.

Bought a Silverback from Graham about a year back without seeing the bike, just through emails and phone calls.  What a pleasure to deal with Graham and a very helpful and knowledgeable guy
