Beautiful. My younger brother can weld like a boss.

That's some seriously great work. You really have to have a super steady hand to weld really well.

I have welded o few things but it's not pretty...at all

When my workshop manager was doing his apprenticeship he was given a Coke can that had been cut in half and told that if he could weld it together, then he could weld. Never got it right, but his welding is very good. Those welds in the pics are in a different league though!

Amazing, and, for the more specialised materials there is a lot of preparation and set up involved as well as heat sinks and gas purging while welding.  44 Bikes for example is fascinating. Be warned - it is addictive.

The answer to your question? I thought I could... then I spent some time with someone that does it for a living. Turns out I can't.....

Extremely helpful guy though. Coloured guy that is at the top if his game welding mainly in the petrochemical industry is kind enough to give a pleb like me a few pointers. I spend 45 minutes a day with him in awe of his skill and talent. I can only hope to be able to tack like him one day.

I am sure some of those are Robotic welds, others you can see was done by human hand, the fancy TIG machines of today also helps a hel of a lot, We recently purchased a MIG welding machine that hardly produce any splater, it was well worth the R115k

I like to think of my welding like a gorilla, ugly but strong.

And I know that mine is like the Sharks defence; all over the place, full of gaps and likely to fall apart without any provocation

My brazing is still good.Doubt my tig and stick is anymore.

My subbies have some pretty hot welders here in Moz and their carbon and SS tig is not far off that kind of quality

I 100% agree with the grinding comments. If you have to grind a weld its because you have stuffed up generally.Except for backgrinding

Possibly, but splatter doesn't really happen from TIG or MIG, even with traditional Stick Arc is about polarity and the right current

There's load's of wisdom on u toob nowdays

TIG is really the way to go for advanced DIY, I have an Afrox branded inverter welder that does TIG, I have all the goodies except the frigging Argon bottle, which is a problem to locate at a reasonable price
